CREATED TO HAVE DOMINION

Genesis 1:26-28 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” So God created human beings in his own image.  In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” Man was created in God's image and was given dominion. We were to control all other creation of God and all the good plants were given to us for food. We begin to see how the enemy fooled man, and made him lower than what he was. No matter how much a man boasts or makes claim to this or that, when without the author Himself, man is nothing, just an empty mould of clay. It is God's Spirit in man that keeps man alive. Just ima

ROUND PEG IN A ROUND HOLE

Genesis 1:20-22 Then God said, “Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.” So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.” Major reasons for failures is having the wrong person for the job. When you place someone in the wrong environment problems arise. Good leadership is knowing where to place each person for optimum performance. At creation we see God placing the round pegs in round holes. The perfect architect teaches us this principle and it is wisdom to follow it. Man using human wisdom and the evil teachings of demons have introduced a lot of anomaly and the consequences are evident all over the world. From terrible things introduced into marriage to false t

BE PRODUCTIVE

Genesis 1:11-12 Then God said, “Let the land sprout with vegetation—every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” And that is what happened. The land produced vegetation—all sorts of seed-bearing plants, and trees with seed-bearing fruit. Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. Being productive can be related to so many areas of productivity. We must understand that God is all about productivity and that is what He expects of us. Idling around, being a nuisance, a pest or a busybody to other people's matter is not what God expects from us. 2 Thessalonians 3:11-13 Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business. We command such people and urge them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work to earn their own living. As for the rest of you, dear brothe

THE POWER OF SEPARATION

Genesis 1:6-7 Then God said, “Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.” And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens. One reason why people don't forge ahead or are slow in progressing to accomplish their aim is not knowing how and when to separate. It affects all areas of life, be they secular or spiritual. Genesis 1:9-10 Then God said, “Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” And that is what happened. God called the dry ground “land” and the waters “seas.” And God saw that it was good. Many businesses have collapsed because their owners or managers have mixed up principal/capital with interests/profits, business with pleasure, stakeholders with busybodies/time-wasters. Some have invested in the wrong things or places. (Know your land and know you water! Selah) Some have really gotten themselves ti

THE BEGINNING

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The very first book of the bible starts with the revelation of the creation of the earth from the Heavenly Father to Moses. It may seem simple to read but understanding may not be that simple, for out of it come forth strong questions, asked by believers and unbelievers alike. Such as "What is darkness?" Genesis 1:2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Genesis 1:2 (kjv) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Genesis 1:2 (the message) Earth was a soup of nothingness, a bottomless emptiness, an inky blackness. God's Spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss. Darkness as I taught sometime ago is emptiness, the absence of light. Is darkness then evil, it now depends on what angle you are taking it

CLARITY BY THE SON

John 1:14-16 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’” From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. People wonder what the scriptures really is. Some scholars will tell you that the old testament or the Torah and the prophets are what is known as scriptures. These was what Jesus and His disciples referred to as scriptures. However they remained unclear to those who read them because the love and person of the Heavenly Father was not revealed to those who read. As Paul explained: 2 Corinthians 3:14-16 But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so the

LEAVE VENGEANCE TO THE LORD

Proverbs 24:29 And don’t say, “Now I can pay them back for what they’ve done to me! I’ll get even with them!” One big distraction we can get from fulfilling our purpose is to seek revenge. What it does is to change the theme of our vision from a godly purpose to that of hate. Hebrews 12:15 Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. Why should we seat with family, brethren, neighbours or colleagues and the aura in the atmosphere is not love but hate and vengeance, how then can our prayers be answered? 1 Peter 3:8-9 Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing. We c

DEDICATE YOUR LIFE TO THE LORD

Proverbs 3:6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Does the Lord have a say in our lives? Some may say, ofcourse, God controls everything. However, the human God created was in His image, having the power of will. Thus, we can resist Him. It must be our will for God to control our lives. For He made us free beings. That is why there can be sin! The book Proverbs says that wisdom is: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Does it mean that God made man without wisdom, No. Does this imply that God made man without the ability to sustain himself. Not really. Every human by default was created to create. The mandate of all humans is to prosper and increase. Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that

THE RIGHT PATH

Proverbs 21:5 Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty. It is good to walk the right path, knowing day after day that you owe no one any recompense. A heart free of guilt will definitely live in joy. Shortcuts could be dangerous for it could lead to disaster and a walk in unrighteous. Proverbs 21:8 The guilty walk a crooked path; the innocent travel a straight road. We must let our children know that it is better to walk in the path of righteousness than to seek hasty reward. For in patience and deligence success is assured for God will bless the deed. I love this hymn by Arthur Campbell Singer, written in 1894. The last verse says: All we can do is nothing worth unless God blessed the deed; vainly we hope for the harvest-tide till God gives life to the seed; yet nearer and nearer draws the time, the time that shall surely be, when the earth shall be filled with the glory of God as the waters cover the sea. We must know how to plant, prune our

LEAD THEM ARIGHT

Proverbs 20:7 The godly walk with integrity; blessed are their children who follow them. What are we expecting from the next generation? Is it a good version of what we have now, or are we afraid that it will be a bad version. We have work to do. God said that the reason He chose Abraham was because He wanted him to teach his children His ways: Genesis 18:18-19 “For Abraham will certainly become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him. I have singled him out so that he will direct his sons and their families to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. Then I will do for Abraham all that I have promised.” We all have a responsibility to the coming generation, as a parent, teacher, relation, neighbour, adult or whatever way we place ourselves. No one is exempted. The best way is by being a good example. Jesus said: Mark 9:42“ But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for

SOME WISE SAYINGS

Proverbs 24:23-27 Here are some further sayings of the wise:  It is wrong to show favoritism when passing judgment. A judge who says to the wicked, “You are innocent,” will be cursed by many people and denounced by the nations. But it will go well for those who convict the guilty; rich blessings will be showered on them. An honest answer is like a kiss of friendship. Do your planning and prepare your fields before building your house. Reading through these counsels in the book of Proverbs, we look into our society and we see why things are so wrong. Favouritism, is one thing that has led to wrong people occupying positions of authority and one of the major failures of governments, especially in Africa. For even in a democracy, people are not really elected but they force themselves into power because they can either buy the people that votes or can sway them with sentimental biases such as religion, tribalism etc. They even go as far as using thuggery, maiming and killings to perpetuat

LOVE - HOW IT IS DONE

Proverbs 22:9 Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor. The whole message of the scriptures is about love. The love is not just spoken or felt, it is expressed. Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” We see Christ teach us that all the instructions or laws actually summarize love. Even grace and faith is of love. John 3:16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. The expression of love is evident in our actions. Giving is one of the simplest and basic expression of love. God loved so He gave. Listen, everyone should love, whether you lack or are in plenty, for both the giver and the rece

BE ENCOURAGED

Proverbs 12:25 Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up. We cannot underscore the role of encouragement in the life of the believer, for we are still humans and things do arise to make us doubt. We could get tired of a thing because it seems to delay, we feel betrayed or we are just tired. Our emotions can really be a stumbling block. So, scriptures counsels us: Hebrews 10:25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Most people quote this verse and feel it is just says "go to church" but read again: Hebrews 10:25  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. The essence of the gathering is - "but exhorting", "but encourage" If your gathering does not do this, then something is wrong somewhere! That push, the

BE THE TEACHER (a reminder)

Hebrews 5:12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. We meet situations we have no control over, time and time again. Daniel found himself in a strange land with so much expected from him. Joseph found himself in a palace with so much to account for. David found himself in the war zone with a giant soldier threatening his people Lot found himself in a community full of unrepentant sinners whose atrocities knew no boundary Solomon found himself as king, when he ought to have been a rejected child "The situations are not always our making, yet the scripts, we can write" Instead of watching the scene as a spectator we could actually write the script by being "the teacher". Titus 2:7 In all things see that you are an example of good works; holy in your teaching, serious in behaviour. This instruction was actually given

THE ONE TRUE GOD!

Psalms 96:4-5 Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!  He is to be feared above all gods. The gods of other nations are mere idols, but the Lord made the heavens! The confusion of religion is the reference to different discription of the diety they portray, one says this, another says that, but there can only be one God. Before Christ was revealed, we had just two divides, the Jews who worshipped the Almighty God and the Gentiles, who worshipped idols. Today, we have different religions and then within the religions, denominations all claiming to serve the Almighty God! What is the problem? Does the Almighty have different standards or salvation for different people? The answer should be, NO! So, who serves the one true God, the Almighty? Of all books written only one has the record from different authors saying the same thing, pointing to the one true God. This is the scriptures, (the Torah with the records of Christ's life and letters of His apostles). The only one that d

A GODLY SOCIETY

Proverbs 12:8-9 A sensible person wins admiration, but a warped mind is despised. Better to be an ordinary person with a servant than to be self-important but have no food. Every human is a creation of God and by default all that God made was good. However, the world was contaminated because of man's disobedience -(the wrong use of his liberty)- and so is the vessels that brings forth the human became contaminated. Romans 3:23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet, a child remains innocent till they reach the age of knowledge. Matthew 18:3 Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. What is it that is lacking in that little child that makes them innocent? It includes ego, pride, hatred, malice and all forms of unhealthy competition. It is because of these characters that we see people live fake lives, those who then have opportunity to serve,

THE DOT THAT STAINS

Ecclesiastes 10:1 As dead flies cause even a bottle of perfume to stink, so a little foolishness spoils great wisdom and honor. An adage says: "he that is down has no fear of falling down". Everyone has their label, what each one is known for, when they act it is not strange till they act out of character. When a drunkard drinks it is nothing special but when we see a person who has never tasted alcohol drinking, it becomes news. Ecclesiastes 10:2 A wise person chooses the right road; a fool takes the wrong one. Let us look at one of my mentors - Daniel: Daniel 6:3-4 Daniel soon proved himself more capable than all the other administrators and high officers. Because of Daniel’s great ability, the king made plans to place him over the entire empire. Then the other administrators and high officers began searching for some fault in the way Daniel was handling government affairs, but they couldn’t find anything to criticize or condemn. He was faithful, always responsible, and com

GOOD IS GOOD, EVIL IS EVIL

Proverbs 12:2,5 The Lord approves of those who are good, but he condemns those who plan wickedness. The plans of the godly are just; the advice of the wicked is treacherous. We live in a world where good has been called evil and evil acknowledged as good. Things which are supposed to be abominable have been legislated to be a norm. We must remember that, when man accepts that which is unacceptable to God, it cannot change God's perception towards it. Evil remains evil, good remains good. Proverbs 12:2 The Lord approves of those who are good, but he condemns those who plan wickedness. Man's acceptance of that which is evil is one of the reasons for most of the problems we have in the world: Romans 1:18-19,25-27 But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God c

REMAIN IN GOD'S LOVE

John 15:9 “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. Many who started well with the Lord begin to slide down when they become careless with their faith. Look at these parables of Christ: Matthew 13:44-46 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it! All of Christ's parable were about not losing it! This is a food for thought for those who teach, once saved always saved. (I am not saying they are wrong, though!) So, when we have a good treasure we actually "treasure" it, we do not play around with it.  The issue most times is that people consciously or unconsciously do not know the value of what they have. This is why we have the adage: "y

BEFORE YOU COMPLAIN (a reminder)

Hebrews 13:3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; [and] them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. Jesus talked of those who follow Him being prone to suffer persecution. The apostles testified of facing persecution, so does everyone who truly follow Christ. Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? The degree of persecution vary from place to place. What is the nature of our environment? Are we free to worship, are we free to gather? If yes, let us have in mind that there are other believers in other places who do not enjoy such luxury. Some are restricted to worship to the extent of the law of the land. Some are restricted to worship because there are enemies waiting to attack, even to the extent of killing them. Some are restricted to worship because they can't even afford a place to worship. It could even be because of natural

REPLACING THE TENANT FARMERS

Matthew 21:33-35,37-41,43 “Now listen to another story. A certain landowner planted a vineyard, built a wall around it, dug a pit for pressing out the grape juice, and built a lookout tower. Then he leased the vineyard to tenant farmers and moved to another country. At the time of the grape harvest, he sent his servants to collect his share of the crop. But the farmers grabbed his servants, beat one, killed one, and stoned another. “Finally, the owner sent his son, thinking, ‘Surely they will respect my son.’ “But when the tenant farmers saw his son coming, they said to one another, ‘Here comes the heir to this estate. Come on, let’s kill him and get the estate for ourselves!’ So they grabbed him, dragged him out of the vineyard, and murdered him. “When the owner of the vineyard returns,” Jesus asked, “what do you think he will do to those farmers?” The religious leaders replied, “He will put the wicked men to a horrible death and lease the vineyard to others who will give him his shar

OMNISCIENT

Proverbs 16:1,33 We can make our own plans, but the Lord gives the right answer. We may throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall. An employee in a very large organization may have very good management, yet they could wonder why certain decisions are made or certain steps are not taken. If that employee was bold enough or close enough to ask, they would be surprised at the reasons why the management took certain decisions. One major reason is the information available to them which the employee is not privy to. It could be as a result of certain events or activities of some employees, a new directive from the authorities, a change of government policies, a financial implicating decision or even a legal/policy mandate. The same way we may wonder why God allowed this or that to be or why He did not allow something else to be. Do we know as much? Paul said: 1 Corinthians 13:9 Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the wh

WHAT HE CAN DO

Matthew 14:14,16,20-21 Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick. But Jesus said, “That isn’t necessary—you feed them.” They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers. About 5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children! When Christ came to the world He came to bring salvation. He came to fulfill the promises the Father spoke about through the prophets. 2 Corinthians 1:20 For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. For Christ Himself said: Luke 4:17-21 The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the

UNDERSTANDING SALVATION

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:5  Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God The best illustration of salvation is the record we have in Acts chapters 10 and 11. We still have some who believed that good works was enough to enter God's kingdom. Some believed it was being under the law. What they do not understand is that both are students of grace. For without grace, you can neither do good or conquer the law. Matthew 5:20 “But I warn you—unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven! Paul by the Holy Spirit was able to explain to us that it was God's grace. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of Go

KEEP WORKING (a reminder)

Proverbs 21:5 The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty. When the year began many had a lot of expectations. Some went from one programme to another seeking for one blessing or the other. There would have been a lot of promises targeted at the end of the year. Depending on what one is expecting, some may get it, yet some may not. Especially in our country, there is this mentality that one would just make it, that is "a tree just appears out of thin air". No, there is always a planting, a nurturing, then a full growth. We should remember that if: *  It is work, we should expect to spend energy; * It is a journey, we should expect it to take some time; * it is a training, we should expect to learn; * it is a business, it will grow from stage to stage; * it is a marriage, we live it day after day; * it is children, we have to train and raise them; * it is a ministry, we must minister by God's leading; * it is a pos

STOP HURTING OTHERS(a reminder)

Matthew 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. It is not for the believer to go about hurting people. No, that is not the testimony Jesus had. We are to follow His example. Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. His testimony was that He went about doing good. This should be our testimony too. One major way of bringing pain to others is by our tongue. James 3:8-10 But the tongue can no man tame; [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.  Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren,

THAT LITTLE PUSH (a reminder)

Isaiah 41:6 Everyone helped his neighbor, and said to his brother, "Be of good courage!" Everything we do would either encourage or discourage another It takes just that little prompting to make that right move or to make the wrong decision. Colossians 2:2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.' God is the greatest motivator and that is why He told us through His Son that He would not leave us alone but would give us the Holy Spirit to guide us and help us. He would be that push that would keep us going day after day. John 14:16  "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever, Rom

SUBMIT TO GOD, RESIST THE ENEMY

1 Peter 5:6-8 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. There is a way to settle a battle most likely without fighting at all. Give your allegiance to a much higher power. Jeremiah 32:27 “I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me? Isaiah 45:5a I am the Lord; there is no other God.  So we have an enemy who claimed to be the god on earth, his desire is to trouble man to keep him bound in sin. What is man to do? Go to Him that is greater than the evil one and find refuge. Psalms 91:1-2 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord:  He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. One thing though: He
