WHAT HE CAN DO

Matthew 14:14,16,20-21

Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

But Jesus said, “That isn’t necessary—you feed them.”

They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers.

About 5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children!

When Christ came to the world He came to bring salvation.

He came to fulfill the promises the Father spoke about through the prophets.

2 Corinthians 1:20

For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.

For Christ Himself said:

Luke 4:17-21

The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”

He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently.

Then he began to speak to them. “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!”

So all His actions proved what He can do and what He came to do, for He did them.

When the people were hungry - He showed up as the provider and fed them miraculously as we saw in the opening verses (Mathew 14:13-21)

When someone died, He showed up as the resurrection and the life. He raised the dead (John 11:21-57, Luke 7:11-17, Mark 5:24-23)

When He said He came to give recovery of sight to the blind, He went ahead to actually heal the blind (Mark 8:22-26, John 9:1-8)

The list goes on, do we talk of the lepers, the woman with the issue of blood, the bedridden etc.

Christ did not just say, He did, the proof of what He could do was evident.

That is why He said:

John 10:38

But if I do his work, believe in the evidence of the miraculous works I have done, even if you don’t believe me. Then you will know and understand that the Father is in me, and I am in the Father.”

It did not just end there, Christ went ahead to endure excruciating pain, receiving stripes, beaten with unimaginable elements and it was for a purpose:

Isaiah 53:5-6

But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins.

He was beaten so we could be whole.

He was whipped so we could be healed.

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.

We have left God’s paths to follow our own.

Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.

All was for our sake, that we may become God's own again and not eat the fruit of our sin.

Finally He paid the capital price:

Isaiah 53:7-10

He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word.

He was led like a lamb to the slaughter.

And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth.

Unjustly condemned, he was led away.

No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream.

But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people.

He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone.

But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave.

But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief.

Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants.

He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands.

All was for our good, for the good of everyone on earth, if only they believe.

So if He has done all these, what is it that you think the Lord cannot do for you?

Nothing!

Don't let that challenge, temporary setback or delay shake and make you doubt the King of Glory. He has proved Himself in the old times, in the new times and even in Your life. Hold on!

Romans 8:32

Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

God has proved Himself and He still keeps showing His sovereignty.

Jeremiah 32:27

“I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?

God is able, so be at peace. Trust in Him.

Your mind cannot comprehend all God has done for you!

All is well.

He calls us blessed.
