THE PURPOSE OF THE LAW

Matthew 5:17 “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. When we say a thing is fulfilled, we mean that it's dispensation is over. Does it make it evil? NO, it only implies that something better has come. So what was the purpose of the law? To focus the heart of man on the Heavenly Father. It was a school master to help God's people stay in tune with God in all they do, that they would not be destroyed. Galatians 3:24-26 Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith. And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian. For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For when the law states an offense, it also states its penalty. For in summary we know that the wages of sin is death Now Christ has paid the price. Yes,

AS A SHINING LIGHT

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. The Christian life is exemplary, like a light that shows others the way to go, as a believer we live such that those that see us see the glory of the Lord in us. The light of Moses blinded those who looked, so he had to hide it, the light of the Lord led those who looked, we thus have to show it. Selah We ought to give the world it's taste, for we bring forth the Heavenly Father's seasoning. If the salt looses its taste it becomes useless. Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. How do we maintain this? It is by staying with the source. Just as Christ explained in John 15, the branch remains alive as long as it is still attached to the tree. John 15:4-5 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a

I NEED YOU LORD

Matthew 5:3 “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. When you read Matthew chapter 5:3-12(do read it now), you see Christ summarizing the nature and character of those who are acceptable to God, yes those who will enjoy the privilege of seeing the Heavenly Father and enjoying his blessings. Wait, does that contradict something you have been taught by some jolly jolly preachers? Look through the teachings of Christ, that of his servants Paul, Peter and other disciples you will see that the prosperity, carefree or ecstacy gospel has no place there. There is a nature of the believer, it is neither careless, mediocre or is it in the bondage of the law. The truth is that it is founded on the love of the Heavenly Father. Matthew 5:8-9,11 God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. “God blesses you when people mock you

THE VALUE OF TEACHING

Matthew 5:1-2 One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, and he began to teach them. One major thing Christ Jesus did when He walked this earth was to teach. The truth is that you do not know till you are taught, for without teaching the truth cannot be found. One reason the Heavenly Father chose Abraham was: Genesis 18:19 (message) Yes, I've settled on him as the one to train his children and future family to observe God's way of life, live kindly and generously and fairly, so that God can complete in Abraham what he promised him." Teaching is very important indeed. What did Christ say we should do after one has been saved?: Matthew 28:20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Thus teaching is the essential part of growth. Of course there are false teachings, evil teachings

Rapha

Matthew 4:24-25 News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed—he healed them all. Large crowds followed him wherever he went—people from Galilee, the Ten Towns, Jerusalem, from all over Judea, and from east of the Jordan River. Now one thing Christ came to do, if not the summary of all He came to do, was rapha - - - - healing, the word also refer to mending, restoration etc... Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, The totality of it all is restoration. A man dead in sin experiences Christ and he is born again, a total regeneration. A healing of the soul! The prophets prophesied about it: Malachi 4:2

FISHERS OF MEN

Matthew 4:19-20 Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” And they left their nets at once and followed him. It is truly said that the best investment in life is investing in people and rightly so, for what is your essence if you add nothing positive to humanity. We live in times when people who add nothing of value to anyone wants to command respect, relevance and even want to be in power. It is an irony.  Jesus at the beginning of His ministry called out to some who would project His work and take the message of His kingdom to the whole world. He told them that they would be fishers of men.  The question is, how?  What exactly was the essence of these "men" that were to be fished?  John 3:17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. They were to bring salvation to who ever believes through the gospel.  So when someone says ". . . God called me. . .",

REPENT

Matthew 4:17 From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” Repentance has been part of human options from creation, that is after the fall, it begins with a remorse or regret of a particular action. The next stage is a decision to change that action, retrace one's step or completely follow a new pattern or lifestyle. Remember God’s words to Cain.  Genesis 4:6-7 “Why are you so angry?” the lord asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.” This should be the first call to repentance in scriptures and it came from God Himself.  We see the call again and again as we go through the Torah, then finally through the last prophet John the Baptist (for after him no prophet exists but to prophesy of Christ Jesus...hope you understand). Then

WINING AGAINST THE ENEMY

Matthew 4:10 “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say,  ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” Three times our Lord resisted the enemy, then the third time He had to send him way. This same way we overcome. We resist the enemy so that he flees from us.  James 4:7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Thus our victory lies in humility to the Heavenly Father, this then leads to the power to resist. Now using our Lord's temptations in the wilderness we understand these: * We must be grounded in God's Word.  Psalms 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. * There is no price tag for our soul: Mark 8:37 Is anything worth more than your soul? * We focus on the eternal: Yes, we have a life to live here, however, there is still a greater one after. For what people struggle for now consist mainly of vanity.  2 Peter 3:11 Since everything around us is going to be destr

PROVING

Matthew 4:3a During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God,...  What causes so much problem in this world? It is the proving syndrome. That is why people fight, it is the reason people do evil against others. They try to prove a point. IS IT NECESSARY?  If you are that great person, you don't have to prove anything, your light will shine!  No matter what they do, your antagonist cannot change your royalty, for that is who you are. Our perfect example is the Word of God Himself, Christ Jesus.  Isaiah 53:7-8 He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word.  He was led like a lamb to the slaughter.  And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away.  No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream.  But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. Hey believers, what are you trying to prove, are you searching for relevance? You don't

FULFILLING ALL RIGHTEOUSNESS

Matthew 3:13-17 Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John tried to talk him out of it. “I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said, “so why are you coming to me?” But Jesus said, “It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.” So John agreed to baptize him. After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” One thing that has kept a lot of people from fulfilling purpose and keeping God’s will in their lives is a word, commonly called a coined  word "bigmamism", from the word "big man".  Imagine one of the greatest healing miracles that happened to a foreigner was almost missed because of this same pride: 2 Kings 5:1,10,12-13 The king of Aram had great admiration for Naaman, the commander of his army, because throug

BE FRUITFUL

Matthew 3:8-10 Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones. Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire. This is what some people mistake for returning to the bondage of the law. No, it simply means, live like who you are!  Christ reiterated it in John 15: John 15:1-2 “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You don't just claim a position you must prove your worth, bear fruit.  It is not about being the president, governor, minister, senator, legislator, managing director, CEO or head. What

WISDOM IS SUFFICIENT TO DIRECT

Ecclesiastes 10:8-10 When you dig a well, you might fall in. When you demolish an old wall, you could be bitten by a snake. When you work in a quarry, stones might fall and crush you.  When you chop wood, there is danger with each stroke of your ax. Using a dull ax requires great strength, so sharpen the blade.  That’s the value of wisdom; it helps you succeed. That is the value of wisdom, though there are difficulties and consequences of actions there are also preventive measures to avoid those bad consequences. Thus you DO NOT have to lose every opportunity, but make the best of all situations.  Someone said: Wisdom considers the best and safest way in every decision!  Truly so, look at Matthew's account on baby Jesus: Matthew 2:13-16 After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother,” the angel said. “Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill h

BE GOD CONSCIOUS

Matthew 2:12 When it was time to leave, they returned to their own country by another route, for God had warned them in a dream not to return to Herod. The life of the believer is such a wonderful one, yes, to have God's Spirit dwell in you is such a privilege. We may not know how great it is, but the enemy knows, that is why they make so much effort to keep us docile that we do not walk in the Spirit that they might take advantage.  From the times of old even to the birth of Christ, hearing from God was so rare it took special people to enjoy it. From prophets to wise men to dream interpreters and dreamers. The wise men were instructed in a dream not to return to Herod.  It was also in a dream that God told Joseph to take Mary as his wife. However he did not meet with her till Christ was born.  Matthew 1:24-25 When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife. But he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born. And Joseph na

HE GAVE US SUCCOR

One of the greatest philosophies from the human mind is about humans, do we need succor, do we need external help?  Are we enough for ourselves, or do we need divine assistance?  The truth is that we were created to be dependent on our maker, for His breath sustains life in us. Furthermore His Word keeps us: Genesis 2:7, 1:28 Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” Thus, this was man's state at creation before the fall, when sin came into play.  Yet at that same beginning the consciousness of God was still in  existence for not only Abel brought a sacrifice, Cain did also.  So where exactly did atheism begin? (A study of Genesis will show, after the tower of Babel)  It sustained

THE GLORY OF CHRIST

Colossians 1:15-16 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth.  He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—  such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. The Lord Christ Himself is the very image of God, those who know Him, must know Him as who He is.  Mark 9:7 Then a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son. Listen to him.” Isaiah 9:6 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us.  The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called:  Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,  Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. He is the only link way to the Father: John 14:6-7 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me,

FOUR THINGS

2 Corinthians 13:11 Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you. Paul concludes his second letter to the Corinthians with four instructions: * Be joyful * Grow to maturity  * Encourage one another  * Live in harmony and peace Now check through these four, in which are you not basking in?  Go through the four again, get their meaning, this morning meditate on them.  Why am I asking you to do this? It is because of the last part of that verse: 2 Corinthians 13:11b(NLT)  Then the God of love and peace will be with you. 2 Corinthians 13:11b(KJV)  and the God of love and peace shall be with you. 2 Corinthians 13:11b (Message)  Do all that, and the God of love and peace will be with you for sure. For if we want God’s presence continually with us we must take care of these four.  For we must create the right atmosphere for God's Spirit to ma

SEEKING THE SUPERNATURAL

2 Corinthians 12:9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. How many times have you asked for a supernatural experience? Moses beseeched the Lord that he might see His face, he actually was allowed to see the shadow of His back. . . Elder Moses yet did not enter the promised land. Check!  There is nothing wrong with seeking the divine, however when we seek deep things, are we ready for the character and responsibilities involved?  Paul saw, he had to be kept in check.  2 Corinthians 12:7-8 even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Revelation 10:4  And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a vo

NO DRIFTING

2 Corinthians 11:2-3 For I am jealous for you with the jealousy of God himself. I promised you as a pure bride to one husband—Christ. But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent. Every true spiritual leader cares for the souls of those they brought the message of salvation to. Though one has to be careful not to get carried away and place themselves in the place of the owner Himself, the Heavenly Father through His Son Jesus the Christ. However no one would appreciate that any of their own drift away.  Yes for we have the ceremonial ones, coming from different perspectives: *the ones that promise, what the Lord did not promise *the false prophets *the ones who talk sweet and claim deep learning *the ones who display signs and wonders but not from the Lord *the ones who come with a strange gospel *the ones who do not hide their rebellion *religions and denominations *the ones that claim

UNDERSTANDING THE BATTLE

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. The first step in winning a battle without hurting oneself is to understand the battle itself, for so many have plunged into things without understanding the real factors.  The greatest battle man fights is with the mind. Thus as a soul winner you go for the thoughts. Beginning in prayer you reach out with the Word of God. Hebrews 4:12.  Those who resist God do so out of reasoning, those who accept Him also have the basis from their reasoning, same with those who do right or wrong, those who invent things, those who are visionary and even those who are mediocre.  Proverbs 4:23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Romans 2:15, 1:28 They demonstrate that God’s law is

AND STILL ON THIS GIVING

2 Corinthians 9:7-8 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. "Freely and not by compulsion". . . , I have not seen when giving had a specified quantity in the new testament. In the old testament, the specification bordered on sacrifices, first fruits and tithes. However these were specified after the law was giving. Recall that the acceptance and rejection of Abel and Cain's sacrifice was not on specifications or quantity but on their state of mind.  Genesis 4:3-4,7 When it was time for the harvest, Cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the Lord. Abel also brought a gift—the best portions of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift, You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you

STILL ON GIVING

2 Corinthians 8:3,5,7 For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will. They even did more than we had hoped, for their first action was to give themselves to the Lord and to us, just as God wanted them to do. Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us—I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving. The church has thrived through the years by the power of the Heavenly Father Himself, and He has provided for the ministry work through His own people. For the love of the Father prompts all to be givers.  2 Corinthians 8:4 They begged us again and again for the privilege of sharing in the gift for the believers in Jerusalem. For as we excel in all things pertaining to ministry, we should excel in giving, for it also a gift of the Spirit.  2 Corinthians 8:7 Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your kno

GODLY SORROW

2 Corinthians 7:1,10 Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God. For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. In Godly leadership it is not all smiles and pleasantries, for the truth must always be told, though no matter how we go about it, the driving force must be love.  In chapter 7 of Paul's second letter to the Corinthian church, he stresses why there was need for the first letter. When we went through it we saw the rebukes for where they faltered, however we must not overlook the corrections and instructions. The letter shows us that the leader, God’s watchman over His children must be alive to correction, rebuke and admonition.  It is not all about fare and well. For we

WORTHY AMBASSADORS

2 Corinthians 6:1, 4 We then, [as] workers together [with him], beseech [you] also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. But in all [things] approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, Having known what Christ has done for us, there is a manner of life believers ought to live. For we have understood that Christ paid the price for our sin, and made us partakers of His Heavenly kingdom. He did not stop there He made us ambassadors, to do the work of the evangelist. Thus we became coworkers with Him.  2 Corinthians 6:3 We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us, and no one will find fault with our ministry. We do not take lightly the ministry entrusted to us, for each day is a day of salvation: 2 Corinthians 6:2 For God says,  “At just the right time, I heard you.      On the day of salvation, I helped you.”Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation. If spiritual leaders know th

WE LIVE

2 Corinthians 5:1,21 For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. Our hope as believers is that we will live forever and not in this earthy life but eternal. Thus we long for our unclothing from this carnal body to the heavenly body.  For we will not live in this body for eternity, for this body is weak and is perishing 2 Corinthians 5:2-5,0 We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that t

FOCUSING ON THE ETERNAL

2 Corinthians 4:18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. For when the veil is removed, when we read the Torah we understand who the message is about.  John 5:39 “You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Luke 24:27 Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. The message of the gospel of truth is Christ Jesus. Full stop. For we cannot overemphasize the truth that the Father revealed Himself through His Son and that only the Son can reveal the Father.  Matthew 11:27-28 “My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” Then Jesus said, “Come t

NOT THE LETTER BUT THE SPIRIT

2 Corinthians 3:2-3 The only letter of recommendation we need is you yourselves. Your lives are a letter written in our hearts; everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you. Clearly, you are a letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you. This “letter” is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on tablets of stone, but on human hearts. This is where some in the church mix it up. We cannot measure by the world's standard, it has to be God's standard.  *it is not the state of the edifice, but the heart and soul of those who worship in it; *it is not the number of people that troop in, but the number that are recognized by the Heavenly Father; *it is not how many years you have been in church or ministry, but how far you have matured and how many lives you have impacted; *it is not about how many titles you have bagged, or degrees you received... Who you help?  *it is not about how famous you are on me
