FISHERS OF MEN

Matthew 4:19-20

Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”

And they left their nets at once and followed him.

It is truly said that the best investment in life is investing in people and rightly so, for what is your essence if you add nothing positive to humanity. We live in times when people who add nothing of value to anyone wants to command respect, relevance and even want to be in power. It is an irony.

Jesus at the beginning of His ministry called out to some who would project His work and take the message of His kingdom to the whole world. He told them that they would be fishers of men.

The question is, how?

What exactly was the essence of these "men" that were to be fished?

John 3:17

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

They were to bring salvation to who ever believes through the gospel.

So when someone says ". . . God called me. . .", the next question should be "to what end?". What exactly have you been called to do? Truly it must be under the same line for which Christ called "to be a fisher of men".

So what does it entail. It entails reaching to the hearts of people, young or old, rich or poor, giving them the good news of salvation in Christ Jesus and going ahead to disciple them to also become fishers of men.

Matthews 28:19-20

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

The called, are we doing this?

Have we been distracted?

Everyone has their part. I believe that every believer has their instruction, it might not come at the point of salvation, like Paul and some others had. However, as the believer grows there comes the time when the Lord reveals His assignment to them. No believer is "jobless".

2Timothy 4:5

But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

It is a wonder why anyone would want to lead if they have no love for those they lead, it is abnormal, yet we see this both in the secular world and with brethren.

Selfishness destroys the essence of the call, for we fish for men to make their lives better, not for what they can do for us but for what the Heavenly Father can do in their lives.

Why should anyone perish? All have the chance of salvation, and we are to carry the message. The message of salvation through the WAY, Jesus the Christ

John 14:6

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

Are you a fisher of men?

He calls us blessed.
