FULFILLING ALL RIGHTEOUSNESS

Matthew 3:13-17

Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John.

But John tried to talk him out of it. “I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said, “so why are you coming to me?”

But Jesus said, “It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.” So John agreed to baptize him.

After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him.

And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”

One thing that has kept a lot of people from fulfilling purpose and keeping God’s will in their lives is a word, commonly called a coined  word "bigmamism", from the word "big man".

Imagine one of the greatest healing miracles that happened to a foreigner was almost missed because of this same pride:

2 Kings 5:1,10,12-13

The king of Aram had great admiration for Naaman, the commander of his army, because through him the lord had given Aram great victories. But though Naaman was a mighty warrior, he suffered from leprosy.

But Elisha sent a messenger out to him with this message: “Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River. Then your skin will be restored, and you will be healed of your leprosy.”

Aren’t the rivers of Damascus, the Abana and the Pharpar, better than any of the rivers of Israel? Why shouldn’t I wash in them and be healed?” So Naaman turned and went away in a rage.

But his officers tried to reason with him and said, “Sir, if the prophet had told you to do something very difficult, wouldn’t you have done it? So you should certainly obey him when he says simply, ‘Go and wash and be cured!’”

(Read 2Kings 5:1-27)

If he had continued with his bigmanism and refused to listen to the maid girl and later his servants, he would have died with his leprosy.

When he finally threw away his bigmanism:

2 Kings 5:14

So Naaman went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven times, as the man of God had instructed him. And his skin became as healthy as the skin of a young child, and he was healed!

What a miracle! I do remind my Heavenly Father of this miracle each time I confess healing in my prayers, or any time I see any funny signs on any part of my skin. (Yahweh Rapha)

Thus many who have been called of the Lord or received an auction to serve miss it when they allow the bigmanism into the equation. They thus would not fulfil all righteousness, then the declaration will not come!

Matthew 3:17

And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

For if you are already the master, why then ask God to take the role of master and if you are already the reverend father, where then is the Heavenly Father placed. For we must be positioned in the right place for us to be lifted.

Christ insisted, even when John who baptized resisted.

Young minister, where are you rushing to? Many begin so zealous, not many years from then some turn from doing the will of Christ to pursuing vanity, money, influence/power and fame.

Some will say, are they not humans, yes, yet the gave their lives.

See, how many apostles were not killed for their faith? All were killed, the one who escaped was put in boiling oil. You that claim apostle, what sacrifice have you made? Or is yours all about eating, drinking and having fun.

Some would say, Christ has paid the price. Yes sir. For sin, there is also a cross for all.

Matthew 16:24-25

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.

If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.

As a believer you have glory already, and the full glory when He returns. DO NOT trade the eternal for the carnal!

What is your cross? Have you fulfilled all righteousness?

We will not miss it, we shed off all unnecessary loads, we give up any foolish pride, we surrender to the will of our maker, the one who called us. So help us good Lord.

He calls us blessed.

Love
