FOCUSING ON THE ETERNAL
2 Corinthians 4:18
So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
For when the veil is removed, when we read the Torah we understand who the message is about.
John 5:39
“You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!
Luke 24:27
Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
The message of the gospel of truth is Christ Jesus. Full stop. For we cannot overemphasize the truth that the Father revealed Himself through His Son and that only the Son can reveal the Father.
Matthew 11:27-28
“My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
So the message has no tricky, it is clear and simple, salvation is in Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 4:1-2
Therefore, since God in his mercy has given us this new way, we never give up.
We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this.
So those who do not believe are those who still have the veil over their eyes(or heart), they need to obtain God's mercy.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4
If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing.
Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
We who have believed are not changed immediately, NO, we are still in this earthy vessel, that is why we face persecutions, trials and other physical troubles, however we are to remain strong. We should remember that the message is not about us, BUT Christ. We preach Christ and not ourselves - we must never forget this, Know the message!
2 Corinthians 4:5,7-10
You see, we don’t go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake.
We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.
We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.
We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.
Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.
For no matter what we face here, it is insignificant compared to the glory that awaits us. That is where our heart should be.
2 Corinthians 4:5,16-17
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
Where is you heart?
Dear man, woman, child of God, where truly is your heart? For we must chase the eternal more than the temporal. We all have our functions on earth, goals, dreams, aspirations but what separates us from the world.
If so called, apostles, general overseers, bishops, pastors, elders etc seek after money, fame and relevance, what is the difference with unbelievers for they also seek the same?
Matthew 6:32
These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.
What is the content of our messages, why then do we complain when the world is full of evil and so called believers are among the culprits. What have we been feeding them, the eternal or the temporal.
Let us get it straight, creating wealth, building institutions is not a symbol of the saved or those who are born again. It is a natural gift of God to man. You must prosper as a default. You sow to reap. The problem is when greed and self comes in.
Matthew 5:45
In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.
If not, then the rich have no need for salvation. Selah. . .
Luke 12:20-21
“But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’
“Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”
Not all believers will be earthly rich or build institutions, for truly all these will be destroyed, however the kingdom investments which is in the souls of men cannot be destroyed it is eternal. Hello, it is not measured in earthy currency, naira, pounds, yen or dollars.
Someone said: "all fingers are not equal, but why be the smallest finger?"
My reply is "Whose measuring scale are we using, that of the Heavenly Father or that of the World?" Selah
Mark 4:19
but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced.
Please, we must have the eternal as priority, we must not lead the people astray.
This is why people choose money over integrity and fame over morality. They reverence the thief who displays money and distaste the honourable who does the right things. Ah, and we wonder why everything is collapsing. Parents even encourage their children to cheat, lie and do bribery. Is our hand not also pushing against the wall of sanity to demolish it. You play your part!
We must remember:
2 Corinthians 4:18
So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
The Lord grant us more understanding.
He calls us blessed.
Love
