THE VALUE OF TEACHING
Matthew 5:1-2
One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him,
and he began to teach them.
One major thing Christ Jesus did when He walked this earth was to teach. The truth is that you do not know till you are taught, for without teaching the truth cannot be found.
One reason the Heavenly Father chose Abraham was:
Genesis 18:19 (message)
Yes, I've settled on him as the one to train his children and future family to observe God's way of life, live kindly and generously and fairly, so that God can complete in Abraham what he promised him."
Teaching is very important indeed.
What did Christ say we should do after one has been saved?:
Matthew 28:20
Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Thus teaching is the essential part of growth.
Of course there are false teachings, evil teachings and also half truths. In all, a person has to still decide what to accept. Actually what you are now is a product of all the teachings you have undergone from birth.
Now you don't have to be literally taught by a person, you are taught by:
* literal teaching from a teacher, who can be anyone, parents, guardians, class teacher, lecturer;
* the books, including newspapers, spiritual books, science books, novels, magazines and even tracts you have read;
* the movies you have watched, including all we see on tv and hear from radios;
* the life style you have watched around you as you grew up (environment) ;
* discussions you have eavesdropped on;
The list goes on and on.
One way or the other we have been taught day after day.
However when we come to Christ, when we come to realization. We need to unlearn, relearn and purify. For not all is good for your growth. Our mind needs to be renewed.
Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
What have you been taught, what have you learnt, what DO YOU KNOW ABOUT GOD yourself?
See the lies that have penetrated this world are so much, even in the church. Christ said that the wheat and tares will grow together.
Do we talk of all the religions, smart intellectuals in the name of scholars and new age intellectuals have beautified and packaged religions, fake prophets, and even denominations to make them look good and acceptable. You must see beyond the packagings to the true power behind these religions and sects. Your heart has to find the truth and only the truth can set you free:
Jesus said:
John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Who or what is the truth:
John 14:6
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
What have you been taught?
What are you teaching?
What are you holding on to?
May the Lord give us more understanding. We will not miss our eternity with Him.
He calls us blessed.
