THEY HAVE THEIR LIMITS

Exodus 8:19 “This is the finger of God!” the magicians exclaimed to Pharaoh. But Pharaoh’s heart remained hard. He wouldn’t listen to them, just as the Lord had predicted. Powers do exist and in various forms and degrees. However, there is only one omnipotent power and it is with the Heavenly Father. That is the power that Christ resurrected with: Matthew 28:18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. No matter what power there is on this earth, the heavens or anywhere else, Christ's power which is the Heavenly Father's power surpasses them all. All powers of darkness know their limit, when they cross it, they will burn. Child of God rejoice, the power of Christ in you surpasses any other power. 1 John 4:4 But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. The powers of darkness know this, that is why t

RAPHA (a reminder)

Matthew 4:24-25 News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed—he healed them all. Large crowds followed him wherever he went—people from Galilee, the Ten Towns, Jerusalem, from all over Judea, and from east of the Jordan River. Now one thing Christ came to do, if not the summary of all He came to do, was rapha - - - - healing, the word also refer to mending, restoration etc... Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, The totality of it all is restoration. A man dead in sin experiences Christ and he is born again, a total regeneration. A healing of the soul! The prophets prophesied about it: Malachi 4:2 “But for you

WHY WE PRAY(a reminder)

Exodus 2:2 The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She saw that he was a special baby and kept him hidden for three months. It took a praying mother to see that there was something special about the child. She was so sure of it that she risked the king's wrath by hiding the boy. However her faith made her get paid to raise her own child and then he became a prince. Selah It is from prayers that revelation is revealed when we study the word! Prayer cannot be overemphasized. Every believer must stay in prayers, for that is the place of victory. We must continually be in communion with the Heavenly Father. 1 Thessalonians 5:17  Pray without ceasing. A prayerful christian is one who knows the word, loves the presence of the Heavenly Father and is an intercessor. It is not just about making noise, vain repetitions or incantations. We pray in the Spirit and with understanding. For we do not pray abstract, we pray with direction. Matthew 6:5-8 “When you pray, don’t be like the

THAT WHICH BRINGS GREAT MEN DOWN - PRIDE (a reminder)

Exodus 7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. By now we know that the most dangerous character that could destroy anyone is PRIDE. This was what caused the enemy to lose his position and make "them" accursed. It is still his selling point when he tempts, all in an attempt to destroy man. Genesis 3:6 The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. Matthew 4:10 “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” It is as if the enemy is trying to prove to the Heavenly Father that everyone is like him! Isaiah 14: 12-14 “How you are fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to th

THE MERCIFUL GOD

Psalm 136:26 O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy [endureth] for ever. The children of Israel received God's mercy, as He delivers them from the hand of their oppressors. The greatest mercy is the one we received when Christ came to die for all humans. When we know the extent of our fall, the consequence of our being born in sin. We surely will begin to understand God's mercy. That which made Christ to be dragged on the ground, beaten with spiked whips, scourged with crown of thorns, then nailed on the parts that could produce the most excruciating pain, the centers of the hands and feet, dangling from a tree, naked, left in hunger, thirst and bitterness. God's mercy displayed to man. David experienced a bit of God's mercy running here and there for his life, even in victory as king when he sinned, he asked and received mercy. Thus he sang this song through: Psalm 136:1 - 26  "... for His mercy endureth forever" God is merciful all who trust Him

JUDGMENT BEGINS

Exodus 7:5,13 When I raise my powerful hand and bring out the Israelites, the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” Pharaoh’s heart, however, remained hard. He still refused to listen, just as the Lord had predicted. The worst thing that can happen to any man, nation or people is to find themselves on the wrong side of the Lord's battle. To provoke the Lord to act, should be for a good thing, and not for vengeance. Listen to scriptures: Hebrews 10:31 It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Some people are comfortable as oppressors, backbiters, evil doers in all forms, yet they cannot take this evil themselves. Isaiah 33:1 What sorrow awaits you Assyrians, who have destroyed others but have never been destroyed yourselves.  You betray others, but you have never been betrayed.  When you are done destroying, you will be destroyed.  When you are done betraying, you will be betrayed. That you have people under your care does not mean that you should oppress,

YOUR PLACE IN YOUR LINEAGE

Exodus 6:26 The Aaron and Moses named in this list are the same ones to whom the Lord said, “Lead the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt like an army.” When the listing of your genealogy gets to you, what will be written or said about you? Every human was created for purpose, that is, we have our role in this world, we cannot afford to miss it. When the roll call is made will there be a pause to tell your story? If the story is there is it a good one or a bad one? What have you been doing? What are you doing now? What will you do? Think about it? We are more than physical beings, we must feed our spirit that the flesh would not take over. The spirit is the one that hears God and relates with Him, we must keep our spirit alive and active. John 4:24 For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” The beauty of fulfilling your place cannot be slightly described. All your daily efforts and struggles are all targeted at fulfilling that purpose, when

GOD OF DELIVERANCE

Exodus 6:1-2,6 Then the Lord told Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh. When he feels the force of my strong hand, he will let the people go. In fact, he will force them to leave his land!” And God said to Moses, “I am Yahweh—‘the Lord.’ “Therefore, say to the people of Israel: ‘I am the Lord. I will free you from your oppression and will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt. I will redeem you with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment. When the Lord comes for you, there is no two way about it, no one can stop Him, He is God. God has said He will deliver His people, He has said it, no need arguing about it, it will happen as He said! He is God! You can analyze, strategize, torment, try to frustrate, it is all a waste of time God will yet do His deliverance. Never find yourself in a position where you are against what God wants to do, never, it is suicide. We must remember that we are the ones restricted by time and space but God is not. Christ said: Matthew 19:26 Jes

VICTORY WILL COME WITH BATTLE

Exodus 5:22-23 Then Moses went back to the Lord and protested, “Why have you brought all this trouble on your own people, Lord? Why did you send me? Ever since I came to Pharaoh as your spokesman, he has been even more brutal to your people. And you have done nothing to rescue them!” When there is a promised victory, don't be surprised by the battle. Jesus said: John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” The battle you are facing is a sign of the victory you are about to celebrate. You must see beyond the obstacle. Understand that as a believer every obstacle stands as a distraction, you must not lose focus of the goal. Pastor Adeyemi said: (paraphrased) "Never focus your mind on the trees (obstacle) that it does not become your target, focus on the target instead". There will always be challenges, don't dwell on them see beyond them to t

BRINGING THE MESSAGE HOME

Exodus 4:30-31 Aaron told them everything the Lord had told Moses, and Moses performed the miraculous signs as they watched. Then the people of Israel were convinced that the Lord had sent Moses and Aaron. When they heard that the Lord was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped. Are you bringing the right message to those who listen to you? The Lord always reaches out to people, before Christ was revealed man kept drifting far away from God. However God had to keep a people through whom He will will fulfill His redemption. Israel was the link to reconcile all men to God. This is why God said: Exodus 4:22-23 Then you will tell him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son. I commanded you, “Let my son go, so he can worship me.” But since you have refused, I will now kill your firstborn son!’” There may be questions in today's verses, that we may not be able to explain fully. However, what are we to take from this study? No man is

WHO SENT YOU

Exodus 4:1,11-12,17 But Moses protested again, “What if they won’t believe me or listen to me? What if they say, ‘The Lord never appeared to you’?” Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the lord? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.” And take your shepherd’s staff with you, and use it to perform the miraculous signs I have shown you.” Do you know who sent you? You wonder why many seem to have left the gospel of Christ (God's salvation) to follow something else. Some have gone after money, fame, relevance some have lost faith completely. Further still, some have found religion!  Some who ask what is wrong with religion. I will answer "religion is man-made", "salvation is God made". This is what Christ was explaining to the Samaritan woman. John 4:21-24 Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time

WHO IS TO BLAME (a reminder)

Exodus 1:11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses. The Pharoah who knew Joseph and the generation of that time had passed away. The Pharoah as at Exodus chapter one did not know Joseph, was it that they did not keep records? Was he NOT told of how Joseph saved them from perishing? Joseph made Egypt the stronghold of the world, nations depended on them to eat. Furthermore it was Joseph that made all Egyptians subject or slaves to Pharaoh. Whatever the case, this Pharaoh did not know Joseph: Exodus 1:8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. As a result he began to torment the people of Israel, he turned them to be slaves. He did not stop there, he began killing all male children. When times of troubles come, naturally we humans would want to seek who to blame. WHO IS TO BLAME? The truth is if we are going to blame anyone we would blame the Heavenly

THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION

Exodus 3:8,22 So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey—the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live. Every Israelite woman will ask for articles of silver and gold and fine clothing from her Egyptian neighbors and from the foreign women in their houses. You will dress your sons and daughters with these, stripping the Egyptians of their wealth.” One thing I have learnt about the Lord's intervention is that it comes with a full package. It is not just taking out of bondage but equipping you with what you need to prosper. God shows up, and makes the oppressor a victim. In our study today we see that God's plan for saving Israel also included them leaving with their wealth. Exodus 3:22b You will dress your sons and daughters with these, stripping the Egyptians of their wealth.” Remember when Laban o

IT IS TIME!

Exodus 2:23-25 Years passed, and the king of Egypt died. But the Israelites continued to groan under their burden of slavery. They cried out for help, and their cry rose up to God. God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act. Time of deliverance will always come, it may seem to tarry but as God told Habakkuk, it will not tarry, it will surely come to pass. How long have you waited on the Lord, how long have you cried out for help? I have come with good news, God is set to act. He is bringing your deliverance to pass. Dry your tears, free your mind, the Lord will remember you for good this season. Never think that your cries and petitions are ignored, it is often said: "delay is not denial", that is what it is. The king oppressing them died, they may have been hoping that the new king will do better but alas, the oppression continued. God had to intervene. List

DON'T BE THE EVIL ONE

Exodus 2:2,15 The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She saw that he was a special baby and kept him hidden for three months. And sure enough, Pharaoh heard what had happened, and he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in the land of Midian. When Moses arrived in Midian, he sat down beside a well. We see the evil and wickedness in these Pharaoh's hearts, we wonder how they refused to learn the true history and the records of the story of the Israelites. But wait, are we any better?  When we practice racism, tribalism and all other vices of hatred. The root of all these evils is fear!  Fear of what? Fear of an illusion, an assumption a mere mirage! Did the children of Israel have any evil thought or intentions against Pharaoh? The answer is NO! Exodus 1:9-10 He said to his people, “Look, the people of Israel now outnumber us and are stronger than we are. We must make a plan to keep them from growing even more. If we don’t, and if war breaks o

KEEP RECORDS

Exodus 1:8 Eventually, a new king came to power in Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph or what he had done. There is an importance for records. Good record would inform the future generations of the reason for the events of the past and give wisdom to them for their decisions on their "today". Proper record would show the importance of love and cooperation instead of war and hate. Evils like racisms, tribalism and unjust stigmatization would not reign. Scriptures records that one reason God chose Abraham was because: Genesis 18:19 I have singled him out so that he will direct his sons and their families to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. Then I will do for Abraham all that I have promised.” Proper keeping record enables us understand the events of the past and avoid making mistakes. Over the generations after Joseph we see a king who did not know Joseph or his works. This is an anomaly. He began to oppress the descendants of the family that

WE KEEP WORSHIPPING

1Chronicles 23:30 to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at evening; Psalms 30:12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever. The act of worship involves reverence. Our every day lives should be purposed to give reverence to God, no matter where we are: in school, workplace, at home, in the bus, in the car, in the airplane, everywhere. Worship does not make you a nuisance, it is not about shouting here and there, with no heart to it, even prayer that Jesus teaches says that vain repetitions mean nothing for it is just a show off  Matthew 6:7-8 “When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! Do we always worship God? Worship is attributed to a deity and is even synonymous to idol

LEARN FROM SCRIPTURES

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. We have looked at the fifty chapters recorded in the book of Genesis. We learnt of the creation, Adam, Enoch, the flood, Noah, Abraham up till Joseph and much more. What is our response to all these records? What have we learnt? What changes are we ready to make? We see: *The consequences of doing wrong *The repercussion of wrong choices and  * The blessings of doing right. We see what happens when a person dedicates their life to the Lord. Also how the Lord can turn a slave overnight to a king. Scriptures says: Galatians 6:7 Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Galatians 6:7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also

CLEAR THE WAVES

Genesis 50:15-17 But now that their father was dead, Joseph’s brothers became fearful. “Now Joseph will show his anger and pay us back for all the wrong we did to him,” they said. So they sent this message to Joseph: “Before your father died, he instructed us to say to you: ‘Please forgive your brothers for the great wrong they did to you—for their sin in treating you so cruelly.’ So we, the servants of the God of your father, beg you to forgive our sin.” When Joseph received the message, he broke down and wept. There is always a consequence for every action, the joy is to be able to make amends. Clear the waves, seek forgiveness and make peace, never take any wrong for granted. Fix the mess. Don't think of yourself alone, remember that you interact with others, they also have feelings and can also react the way you do. Self centeredness can become a disease. You could think that you are always right and you are justified no matter what you do. No, this is actually the height of fo

THE GREAT UPLIFTMENT

Genesis 50:7,9 So Joseph went up to bury his father. He was accompanied by all of Pharaoh’s officials, all the senior members of Pharaoh’s household, and all the senior officers of Egypt. A great number of chariots and charioteers accompanied Joseph. What a way to say farewell to a father. Who would have thought that when he cried for his son, that things would turn out the way it did. That glory would come to him. A place had to be renamed because of Joseph's Father's burial. The Lord will lift you up from every shame and bring you good fame👍 Scriptures records: Psalms 126:1-3 When the Lord brought back his exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream! We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy.  And the other nations said,  “What amazing things the Lord has done for them.” Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us!  What joy! You will be celebrated where you were once looked down on. Listen, when the Lord remembers you, you cannot describe the glory that will follow! Y

THINK OF YOUR GENERATION

Genesis 49:1,28 Then Jacob called together all his sons and said, “Gather around me, and I will tell you what will happen to each of you in the days to come. These are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father said as he told his sons good-bye. He blessed each one with an appropriate message. Do we understand that as a person we are a starting reference for a generation. Knowing this, we ask ourselves: What legacy have we built? The choices we make, will definitely tell on our children born and unborn. Yes they can emancipate themselves, but they will first experience the stain. Proverbs 22:1 Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold. The impoverish, immoral and corrupt society does not just occur, it emanates from the permitted wrongs of a generation.  Hebrews 3:10 So I was angry with them, and I said,  ‘Their hearts always turn away from me.  They refuse to do what I tell them.’ The same way a righteous, prosp

THE FATHER'S BLESSINGS

Genesis 48:3 Jacob said to Joseph, “God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me. There is a different level of a father's blessing, if the Lord has earlier on, blessed him. Abraham had God's direct blessings and he passed it on to Isaac, Isaac also had God's direct blessings and he passed it on to Jacob also had God's direct blessings, he eventually released it to his children. So anyone who was of that lineage could inherit the blessings. The same way Christ released His blessings to His disciples, however this time it is not limited to those that were physically with Him at that time but to everyone who believes. John 1:12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. John 17:20 “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. We receive the everlasting blessings through Yeshua HaMaschiac who is the Christ Jesus. Remember: 2 Corinthian

BUSINESS CONQUEST

Genesis 47:19,25-26 Why should we die before your very eyes? Buy us and our land in exchange for food; we offer our land and ourselves as slaves for Pharaoh. Just give us grain so we may live and not die, and so the land does not become empty and desolate.” “You have saved our lives!” they exclaimed. “May it please you, my lord, to let us be Pharaoh’s servants.” Joseph then issued a decree still in effect in the land of Egypt, that Pharaoh should receive one-fifth of all the crops grown on his land. Only the land belonging to the priests was not given to Pharaoh. When you have what people need, you dictate the price they pay for it! You cannot have wealth until you have solutions to peoples' problems. People will pay for your product or service. No matter what it costs, the need(s) have to be met. This is why we need to pray aright, what the Lord will give you or do I say, what the Lord has already given you is enough to make you "your" wealth.  The starting point is disc

FULFILLING DESTINY

Genesis 47:11-12 So Joseph assigned the best land of Egypt—the region of Rameses—to his father and his brothers, and he settled them there, just as Pharaoh had commanded. And Joseph provided food for his father and his brothers in amounts appropriate to the number of their dependents, including the smallest children. The joy of living on earth is fulfilling destiny. All your struggles, work, study, etc are towards fulfilling destiny. You will Not find peace till you have accomplished your purpose.  Joseph saw his destiny from a distance (a dream), he held on to it till he accomplished his propose.  What was his strong hold. He kept his faithfulness and trust in God. No matter what he passed through, he reminded himself of what the Lord had promised him. He did not compromise. Genesis 39:9b How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.” God in turn kept faithful to Him through all the stages. 1 Corinthians 10:13 The temptations in your life are no different fr

GOD SAYS COME

Genesis 46:2 During the night God spoke to him in a vision. “Jacob! Jacob!” he called.“Here I am,” Jacob replied. Ephesians 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. When we feel that we have not gotten what we deserve, when our mind seems to forget all that we have or have been privileged to become. Instead our mind wants to dwell on what we have not yet gotten, or what seems to be delayed or that we feel that God has not been fair to us. Wait, God has not forgotten you, No. We ought to remember that we are presently one(1) person out of more than eight billion (8,000,000,000), who are presently living on earth, not counting the innumerable who have gone ahead of us, and more who are yet to come. Yet the Heavenly cares for each one us, to the extent that those who believe in Him have the very hairs on their head numbered that one does not fall without Him knowing. However the power of will(the power of choice) is one attribute of man

GOD MAKES IT WORK FOR OUR GOOD

Genesis 45:5,7 But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives. God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your families alive and to preserve many survivors. Joseph had to reassure his brothers that though they did evil, God used it for good. We may not fully understand why someone could become "a son of perdition". Why some could plot evil as if they were created for that same purpose. (WE YET HAVE THE POWER OF CHOICE) However what we are taught is that the Lord uses everything to bring His will to pass. Also that we are not to be that son of perdition: Matthew 18:7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! It is terrible when one is not able to ask forgiveness and make amends. It is better to stay away from playing the evil one. For our Heavenly Father is Light and in Him is no darknes

THE PAIN OF DOING WRONG

Luke 17:1 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting! It never pays to be on the wrong side of temptations and persecutions, no matter how the world misrepresents it to you. You will always face the consequences. Genesis 42:17,21-22 So Joseph put them all in prison for three days. Speaking among themselves, they said, “Clearly we are being punished because of what we did to Joseph long ago. We saw his anguish when he pleaded for his life, but we wouldn’t listen. That’s why we’re in this trouble.” “Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy?” Reuben asked. “But you wouldn’t listen. And now we have to answer for his blood!” Joseph tested his brothers to see if they had changed their ways. I believe they did the very day they sold him, for scripture records: Genesis 37:19-21,34-35 “Here comes the dreamer!” they said. “Come on, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns. We can tell o

KNOW WHO YOU SERVE

Colossians 3:24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. There are many things that are not under our control. Surely there is a limit on what we can choose. Yes there are things that are not completely in our control, we are brought into them. For instance, we did not choose who our parents, siblings or children would be! The same way there is a limit to the choice of who we work under or serve. Also those who work with us. For instance Joseph could not decide Potiphar or his wife's character. He just had to serve them. Knowing this, what do we do? Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; This is why Joseph said: Genesis 39:9  [There is] none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou [art] his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? Joseph knew who he served! Not Potiphar, but God the Almig
