SING PRAISES TO GOD

Psalms 30:4 Sing praise to the LORD, You saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. One easy way to worship God is singing. It also goes a long way in blessing you by uplifting your spirit. Singing is an activity that gives an atmosphere of joy to any person. It most times denotes happiness, that the mind is merry. Every believer ought to practice singing in praise to God. In it we confess who He is and what He has done. One of the first entries of singing praises to God was that which Moses, Miriam and the whole of Israel sang, when the Lord used Moses to give Israel victory from the hand of Pharaoh. Exodus 15:1 & 21 Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and spoke, saying: "I will sing to the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea! And Miriam answered them: "Sing to the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!" Son

LET IT GO, DELETE IT!

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, From my little experience it seems that everyone has had that thing which had stood as a stumbling block to our release to the full measure of glory in Christ. It could be a sin, a habit, a desire, a weakness or a certain kind of doubt. It could just be a collection of bad character! It is that thing which could hold us back when we are about to take that major step forward or obey that instruction that will elevate us to a higher glory. Most times it says "You are not worthy" then everything becomes still or even returns to a "no-zeal" mode. Titus 2:14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. It is time we drop that thing. It could be so strong

IS YOUR KNOWLEDGE PROFITABLE?

1Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. God is the all knowing, that is why He is Yahweh the Omniscience. Psalm 139 talked about God's knowledge of all things, yet one great thing about it, is that this knowledge of all, was embedded in the nature and person of God, Love. For God is love, this is the true knowledge of God that Christ revealed. A proverb says " no one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care". What is that knowledge we have that makes us feel we are superior to others, or make us feel that we can look down on others. No, that is not what we are given knowledge for. The advantage of knowing should be to make others better and to bring them closer to fulfil their purpose in life. When knowledge is not backed with love, it profits nothing. 1Corinthians 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and unde

THINK OF OTHERS

Ephesians 5:21 submitting to one another in the fear of God. It is difficult to live the way God wants us to live if we carry the mentality of always being the beneficiary. Do we * always want to win the argument? * always want to be the one to receive but never give? * always want the other person/people to sacrifice, while we put in nothing? * only think of ourselves and never the other person? * pray for ourselves alone, and not intercede for others? * always see the other as wrong and we always right? The list could go on and on. If we want all things to favour us at all times, then, where is sacrifice? Where is the proof of our love for others, where is God's nature in us? Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. 1John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. (talking about relationships among believers - the brethren) This me

WATCH and PRAY, BE ALERT!

Colossians 4:2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; One of the signs of Not being in the spirit is when our prayers begin to cease. It is evidence of not having the continual consciousness of God. When the bible mentions prayer it always asks us to do something alongside: Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." Ephesians 6:18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints-- Colossians 4:2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; 1Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. The bible said we should be watchful! WATCH and PRAY! A prayerful christian is also a watcher. We must watch to see what God is showing us, to know what time and season it is and to know when temptation arises. We hav

ARE YOU A HYPOCRITE?

Mark 7:6 Jesus replied, “You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote,  ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. We have talked about the hypocritical nature of the Pharisees. The question is, where did they get it wrong? The law! without Faith Mark 10:17, 19 - 22 Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, "Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?"  "You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Do not defraud,' 'Honor your father and your mother.' "  And he answered and said to Him, "Teacher, all these I have observed from my youth."  Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; a

HYPOCRITICAL CHRISTIAN

When we hear the word Pharisee, it quickly brings a bad notation to our minds and the reason is simple - they were known to be "hypocrites". (the dictionary even added hypocrisy to their definition) What we understood from scriptures about the Pharisees, was their need to be in control. It was not for God to be in control but for them to reign. They believed they knew the law and that they were the enforcers." Jesus said to them: Matthew 23:15, 23, 24, 25 & 28 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the other undone "Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel! "Woe to you, scribes and

AVOID CONFLICT

Hebrews 12:15 looking diligently lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled; The origin of most conflicts could very well have been avoided. There is certainly a way to avoid it, O help us Holy Spirit. Listen, consider your health, strife is one major cause of heart and neurological diseases. We must avoid them at all cost. Proverbs 14:30 A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones. To get annoyed, to get hurt and to seek revenge, does not really take much effort to act on. It flows easily with its emotion. If we let our id free, we could even surprise ourselves on how far we could go. Listen, self control is very important. It is one of the fruits of the Spirit. We feel the exhaustion and regret after we have taken the action. Is it worth it? No! Proverbs 15:18 A wrathful man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger allays contention. We may not be able to co

OUR VICTORY

1Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. How important is the soul of man? How precious it is that God seeks for it and the enemy wants it. Why? It is in our control, we decide where it goes. Selah Recall that Jesus said: Mark 8:37 Is anything worth more than your soul? The battle has always been for the soul of man. The soul of man although belonging to God was ours because God made us in His image we had the right of choice. Who really is in control? Remember how it all started! Just like we have the right to do anything we want to do in our birth country. Yet still when you offend you face judgement either to imprisonment, death or both and sometimes fine. The worst off is banishment! The sin of the first man sentenced all from his loins to death. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lo

THE ENEMY'S BARGAIN

1John 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. 1Corinthians 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. There is always something you consciously or unconsciously hold on to and if you are not careful it could be used as a bargaining power against you. Never let anything be your idol. Christ asked: "What will you sacrifice for your soul?" Mark 8:37 "Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Search yourself, find the idols and then un-idolize it, nothing is so important, remember there was a time you didn't have it. We have seen people sacrifice parts of themselves for wealth now it tastes as gravel in their mouth, while some are either dead or a living dead. In all, the bargain had never been worthwhile. The bible says: 1John 2:16 For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. 1John 2:17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but

MORE HIGHLY THAN . . .

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. If you have accepted Him know that it is a privilege to be called God's own. Yes, for what we received and became at conversion is so great we really cannot take it lightly. The enemies know, they tremble at it and fight against it. It is believers that belittle it! This said, let us note that we received it like a child then we grow everyday from the point of taking spiritual milk till when we attain maturity, then we begin to eat spiritual meat. 1Peter 2:2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, Hebrews 5:13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.  But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to disce

GOD FOR EVERYONE

2 Chronicles 6:32-33 “In the future, foreigners who do not belong to your people Israel will hear of you. They will come from distant lands when they hear of your great name and your strong hand and your powerful arm. And when they pray toward this Temple, then hear from heaven where you live, and grant what they ask of you. In this way, all the people of the earth will come to know and fear you, just as your own people Israel do. They, too, will know that this Temple I have built honors your name. At the time of Solomon, the children of Israel were the only nation that had access to God, they were the chosen ones through the promise of God to Abraham. However, Israel was not the target of God's love alone, the whole world was. However, for that time and season it ought to begin with one man then it became a nation - Israel and later the whole world. Solomon seemed to understand this and that was why He prayed the prayer that he did at the completion of building the temple. (our op

LIKE YOUR FATHER

John 20:17 b Jesus said to her, . . . but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.' " Children emulate the doings and workings of their father. When you see the working of a young one, you ought to be able to say, "this person acts like the child of. . . " Acts 4:13 The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus. Jesus said John 5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. Matthew 5:45 "that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Galatians 4:6 And becau

STAY IN HIS ATMOSPHERE 2

Psalms 95:6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. After the fall of man we see that there was the tendency of man to do his own things. Also there was free access of satan and other spirit beings to manipulate the mind of man. Man never really knew who the enemy was. We also observe that the flesh of man which was dead to God also longed for things which were not of God. Yet through all these times we saw some special people who still sought after God they wanted to know their creator and desired to seek His atmosphere. One remarkable man was Enoch who the bible said He sought so much of God that He became literally transferred from this atmosphere to the heavenly atmosphere. Genesis 5:24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him We could begin to list the great men and women who stood out from their generation to seek God and lived for Him. Some heard of Him and wanted to know more, some decided that they would dedicate their l

STAY IN HIS ATMOSPHERE 1

Genesis 3:8  And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. I know that there are times when we wonder if God was really there, if He is in charge of the situation. I have been asked time and again if God knows everything, and if He does, why does he allow some things to happen? The answer to this question is answered if we understand who man really is, do we know who God really created. Genesis 1:26-28 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, an

DO YOU STILL SEE?

Habakkuk 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, it will not tarry. It may have been easy when we first believed, to visualize the promises. We reach out with zeal, loving God, seeking to do exploits. That was when we first believed, just as Jesus said: John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." When we become born again we see God's kingdom, our spirit man is reborn and we count the flesh as nothing. Then time passes by, we are in the world, all its distractions, temptations, responsibilities, challenges and so on begin to reveal themselves. The question then is: * Can we still see heaven? John 3:3 * Are we still zealous? John 2:17 * Are we continuing in those things? Acts 2:42 * Are we walking in love? 1John 4:7 or Has the cares and worries of life and service ta

STAY IN HIS ATMOSPHERE

Matthew 4: 10 – 11 Jesus said to him, "Get away from me, Satan! The Scriptures say, 'You must worship the Lord your God. Serve only him!'" So the devil left him. Then some angels came to Jesus and helped him. In the beginning, Adam failed to dwell in God’s presence making us (humans) to fall. Just as scriptures say that by one man sin came into the world. Romans 5:12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. *man is the originator of his own sin! The same way Adam had to decide to stay in God’s atmosphere we too have to decide to stay in God’s presence. Man was made in God's image having that power "to decide". So for those blaming God for this or that, know that man has the power to decide that will power is God's nature In man.this is what makes us accountable and also liable to be judged. Selah Listen. God wasn’t bothering Adam neither his wife, they had a f

NOT OF THE WORLD!

1John 5:19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. Who we are as Christians is defined in Christ Jesus. The world we should know, is swayed by the wicked one. From politics, government, the economy and all that makes the world a society. If a God fearing leader tries to enforce morality, most times he meets with resistance. The degree differs from one country to another and also from one generation to the other. Yet in all these unbalanced situations, we are to shine as lights, bright enough to penetrate the darkness around us. We are not trying to save the world, NO!. However we are to save the soul of man, the people in the world, because we know that the world and its system will be destroyed. The soul of man however will live on, either with God in eternal rest or in torment. Luke 9:25 "For what advantage is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 2Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as

WE TRUST IN THE LORD

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; Truly these are times when it doesn't look in vogue to be godly. Many merely talk about God but they do not live the Godly life. Of course we know that talk is cheap (there are exceptions though). For we have some of us who identify ourselves as Christians but our likeness to Christ remains a mirage, of this category the word of God says 2Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. The proof of our trust in God is not merely when all seems to be well but the true test is when we face challenges, difficulties or seem not to have what we need. Our trust is shown in our patience, ability to listen (knowledge), then making the right choice, then our ability to show love to others even when it seems we have not received what we desired. 2Peter 1:5-8 And

THE POWER OF CORPORATE WORSHIP

2 Chronicles 5:13 The trumpeters and singers performed together in unison to praise and give thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, they raised their voices and praised the Lord with these words:  “He is good!  His faithful love endures forever!”At that moment a thick cloud filled the Temple of the Lord. One great thing is coming together in one accord to worship God. Where every heart is focused on one purpose and one goal to enter the Lord presence, there is nothing like it  Remember that even God said: Genesis 11:6 “Look!” he said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them! Jesus also said: Matthew 18:20 For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” So we do not take local assembling for granted. We do not take family gatherings for granted, so also in our community, and if God shows mercy, in our region, state and even countr

SAFE IN GOD'S HANDS

1Peter 5:7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. John 15:7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! As we go on in this last month of the third quarter of this year, it is apt that we remind ourselves that it is God's grace that keeps us going, as we continue with our work this week, we believe God's caring hand, as a loving Father that He is, is there to carry us on. No matter the challenges and uncertainties, He will guide us through to victory. Halleluyah. He promised and His promise will not fail, for those who put their trust in Him are never disappointed. Psalm 18:30 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. So what we have to do is to cast our cares on Him. How do we do this? Listen to the preceding and the after verses: 1Peter 5:6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, *

KEEP LOVE ALIVE

Philippians 2:1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, I do not know how your past weeks have been neither do I know how the first eight months have been for you. Yes, it becomes difficult to live in love when carried away with the activities of this world. If you allow your mind to dwell too much on the not too interesting events of the past days, weeks, months or even years, you would find it difficult to love. We should be conscious of God's love! If we rely on the flesh we cannot be able to truly love, for we cannot build tangible things out of mere feelings or emotions. Glory to God, Christ has helped us, by the Holy Spirit coming into us as a helper "God in us". Glory. He brings to remembrance those things Jesus taught us. John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all

THE SPIRIT IN YOU

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” When we were saved, God anointed us with His Holy Spirit and empowered us. Christ came to show us how this works. Acts 10:38 "how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. 1John 2:27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. The reason for the anointing is to serve, to do good. God directs us to make a good impact. We fulfill His purpose and we enjoy the privilege of sonship. Remember: Romans 8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are

NOT INTO TEMPTATION

Matthew 6:13 "And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. for Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Most of the time we could get carried away with satan or the devil the question is what role does he play? How exactly do we fall into temptation. James explained this to us: James 1:14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. That is what Jesus prayed about, He knew that as long as we are in this world temptations abound and since we have the power of choice, there is a probability to choose wrong. So Jesus then prayed for us that God would not allow us to fall into temptation. John 17:15 "I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one God will speak through His Spirit and angels, yet the final decision is ours, remember He made us in His image, we have the power to choose. Look at these verses: Joshua 24:15 "And if it seems e

THINK OF OTHERS

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." We live in a world where people's  dispositions keep changing from time to time, influenced by either internal or external forces. * That I am happy, doesn't mean everyone is happy. * That I am strong and healthy, doesn't mean every one else is. * That I have enough to feed and meet my needs, doesn't mean that others have. * That I am born again and living for Christ knowing my eternity is secured, doesn't mean that others are too. * That I have a happy home, doesn't mean that others do. * I am excelling in my work, school or business doesn't mean that everyone else is. The scenarios are endless. Everyone may not be in the same phase at the same time, it might be hot for you while others are shivering. Be considerate! Let us take time out to reflect. Considering that it is not only about us here on earth but that we live among many. A

WE ARE HOLY

2Timothy 3:5  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (ERV)  They will go on pretending to be devoted to God, but they will refuse to let that "devotion" change the way they live. Stay away from these people! (GNB)  they will hold to the outward form of our religion, but reject its real power. Keep away from such people. I have experienced some who claim to have holiness or be holy but they actually think of the law. Now that is where they get it wrong. The law isn’t to help you to be holy but to let you know that you need to be helped to be holy, because this is what holiness entails. The law isn’t evil just like the criminal code being used in a court of law, it doesn’t help you stay away from evil but let you know what is evil and the punishment for it. We as believers according to Jesus live in a realm higher than the law. That is, we don’t disobey the law but we live higher than the restriction of the law. We

DON'T LOSE THE VISION

1Peter 5:6-9 Humble yourselves, then, under God's mighty hand, so that he will lift you up in his own good time. Leave all your worries with him, because he cares for you. Be alert, be on watch! Your enemy, the Devil, roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Be firm in your faith and resist him, because you know that other believers in all the world are going through the same kind of sufferings. The openness of the heart of man is what the Lord needs to dwell with or use him. Everyone has that prompting at the beginning of things to do great, to please God, to live a life of full commitment to God. Then the temptations, tests and other distractions set in, focus is lost. Other things take over. What made people like, Joseph and Daniel stand out! They held on to the FIRST VISION! They had faith! Hebrews 11:33 who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, They did not co
