WHY SERVE THE LORD?
1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Never in vain, yes, however some may begin to ask, why was this person or that person not blessed and yet they served the Lord.
Well, we never truly know the circumstance of a person from a distance, we need to get close. All is not always what it seems. One truth is sure though, the Lord does not disappoint, He doesn't fail.
1 Peter 5:10
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle [you].
Some would ask: how do I serve the Lord, is it by joining church activities? Yes, that is part of it but serving the Lord goes beyond just the gathering and activities. It entails our everyday life.
Our family
Our job/work/business
Our neighborhood
Our communities
Our nation
What do we represent, what fruits do we bear? Is God glorified?
The power of mammon, pride and betrayals has filled the earth and one doesn't know who exactly to trust, yet we need to stay faithful for God would not change or fail no matter what happens to times and season. For he created time and season. Glory.
We do not know the end from the beginning, therefore our knowledge is limited.
Do we have an idea of the battle the Lord fights on behalf of His own? The enemy thrives on our weakness and strives to take advantage. He uses people and things. We cannot also ignore the mind of man, the one scripture records is desperately wicked!
1 Peter 5:8&9
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
He keeps asking for opportunities to prove those who have put their trust in God. It didn't end with Job.
Luke 22:31&32
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired [to have] you, that he may sift [you] as wheat:
But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
We never know how much the Lord fights for us. Give Him praise continually.
Above all, the reward after here is better imagined.
We could get carried away with earthly riches and forget that riches go beyond money. For most have money yet do not have joy.
However, when it is of God sorrow does not come with it.
Proverbs 10:22
The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Therefore, we never lose out if we stay faithful. For His covenant is sure. Let the world do what it likes, we will do what God likes, so help us Good Lord.
Keep being faithful. Remember God is faithful. Glory to God forevermore.
We are victorious.
Love
