WHEN YOU HAVE KEPT ALL THE LAWS

(please read with understanding this message has been kept for days but had to be published now after Sunday's programme in GC)

Luke 18:21-22
And he said, "All these I have kept from my youth."
So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

So when Jesus heard the man say he had kept all the law he did not oppose him.

He simply told him to let go of all he had and follow him.

Goodbye to slavery of the law, welcome to the fulfilment of the law in Christ Jesus.

We cannot get to a point when we say, we have known it all.

Most church denominations at this time, even the orthodox, have adopted the selective law syndrome. Where, they or will I say we, have decided to select some parts of the law and discard others, especially when it entails things that have to do with money and physical practices.

When a certain ruler came to Jesus seeking eternal life, Jesus told him of the laws, remember at this time there was no salvation, Christ had not died!

The ruler replied that he had kept the whole law since his youth. Jesus did not discredit him but told him that he was yet to do the most important thing . . . follow Jesus.

John 1:17&14
For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

I am always unhappy when the sacrifice and victory we have in Christ Jesus is toiled with because we want to instill fear or control over people.

Take the issue of tithes " tithe or your pocket will be tight" that can never be the teaching of Christ. So also is all these issues of first fruit, covenant seed, sacrificial seed. Who has done this to us?

Your prosperity cannot be tied to your giving, just like a son cannot say he has school fees paid by his parents or is being fed by the parents because he does hard work or chores in the house.

Tithing is good, offering etc, remember that there was also slavery, killing and sacrifices of animals, burning of incense and other practices which are all tied up in the law. What of the sabbath and special days, there were strict curses for not keeping all these laws. Do we keep them? No. Why? Because Christ has set us free!

Ezekiel 20:21
"Notwithstanding, the children rebelled against Me; they did not walk in My statutes, and were not careful to observe My judgments, 'which, if a man does, he shall live by them'; but they profaned My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the wilderness.

Matthew 12:8
"For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."

We must avoid selective law intimidations.

James 2:10
For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.

The examples of those who gave and caught God's attention were Abraham, David, Solomon etc. They did not give according to the law. They gave sacrificially cause they loved the Lord.

Galatians 2:16
"knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

Our liberty is clear, let no one put us in bondage again.

Galatians 3:10
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them."

Giving, yes we must give to the work of God and for His house. But not grudgingly or by compulsion or fear of a curse, instead why did Christ come, since we are ok with the law.

Galatians 3:13
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"),

Let the need for money, control and manipulations not let us belittle the sacrifice of Christ and lead people to bondage again.

Romans 3:19
Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

The last days would need a wealthy church, one who can stand away from the man of lawlessness, but we must be careful of what we teach to get people to lay down their wealth. We must not lead people astray.

I see an informed church, one who is a bride and serve God not from unholy fear but with holy fear and love.

A church of sons and not slaves.

A people who are free and cannot be put in bondage again.

A people who would not use their liberty as a licence to sin.

A people who are not under the law, but fulfil the law.

People who understand that we cannot buy our salvation or even our blessings, they have been paid for in full.

A people who understand that the more they have, they more they account for.

God's own people.

Who understands that when they go out of love, they go out of God!

Sons of the most high, by a price paid so high, even the death of the Son.

God bless you this new week.

Love
