CHOOSE WISELY

2 Chronicles 29:1-2

Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.

It is a wonder how a father will be faithful to the Lord walking in His steps, then the son grows up and then decides to walk in the ways of evil.

The same way a father walked in the ways contrary to God, doing abominable things, yet the son grows and chooses to walk in the way of the Lord.

Hezekiah is an example of such.

King Ahaz chose the terrible part, he went as far as locking up the temple so that no one will worship the true God there!

2 Chronicles 28:1, 3-4, 22, 24  Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father:

Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.

He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the LORD: this is that king Ahaz.

And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the LORD, and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

What a terrible king he was, yet his son chose differently.

2 Chronicles 29:5-6, 10

And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the LORD, and turned their backs.

Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.

Listen, we must choose wisely, there is no excuse, stop blaming others, past or present.

The decision to move to the next level is up to you.

Joshua told the people of Israel:

Joshua 24:15

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

The choice is ours, let us put our trust in God and take the steps to move us to the next level.

Nothing will stop us.

So help us Good Lord.

PRAYER

Loving Father I choose You and Your way, Your promises have always been good and great. Help me Dear Father, to make the right choices as You take me to the next level of excellence. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.

Love
