ARE YOU SPECIAL?

Psalm 8:4

What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?

I used to believe that Job had a limited understanding of how glorious man is, that he was too beside himself to see that man that God created was great and important. See what Job said:

Job 7:17-19
"What is man, that You should magnify him, that You should set Your heart on him,
that You should visit him every morning, and test him every moment?
How long? Will You not look away from me, and let me alone till I swallow my saliva?

This was a man in pain, his works were much better than some of us who walk as christians today. He had no fault in him. God said so Himself.

Then I read a related statement from David although this time David had a better understanding of man and his creation.

He added:

Psalm 8:4-6
What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet,

These men were great and one thing about Job I respect so much, was that He had direct audience with God, not by dreams or vision and maybe not even through an angel. Few men had this opportunity, we could count them:

Adam, Cain, Enoch, Abraham, Moses, Job, Elijah, Elisha and a few other men.

When Jesus finished his work the bible says:

Ephesians 4:8
Therefore He says: "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men."

The gifts originated in the Holy Spirit.

So most likely today when people say, I heard this or that from God, they actually mean the Holy Spirit impressed it in their hearts.

How many of us really do have a direct audience with God. What really is it that makes some become proud and then derail. Paul said:

2Corinthians 12:7
And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.

Just a little revelation here and there and a man sees himself above correction and sets a throne that he should be worshipped in (not literally though 😀)

Teaching some youth leaders who were under my care some years ago, in response to their desire to hear directly from God and see great revelations I cautioned that we as believers especially if not greatly matured should be careful. God not showing us those great manifestations could be for our advantage. The more revealed to you, the more accountable one becomes.

There were things that David was forgiven for which Moses may not have been forgiven for! (these are for those who understand).

So as we worship, grow in knowledge of God, work for Him and do our earthly duties. May we not get beside ourselves forgetting that we are man and He is God. It is a privilege and a sacrifice that made us sons. So may we be like Jesus the Christ, may we not misuse this grace.

Philippians 2:8-11
And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Yes we are special, we have been brought into a glory that the elders of old could only see revelations of, we must not misuse it. Instead with love and gratitude in our hearts we should pull others out of damnation into this glory.

I see us awakening to our responsibilities as sons.

I see us representing heaven as true ambassadors.

I see greater exploits and better works.

I see humility and total submission to God.

May we not forget that there are billions that have been before us and many to come after us.

We will finish well.

You have helped us Good Lord.

PRAYER
Loving Father help me not to be beside myself, but in humility serve You as a true son. It is a privilege to be in Your family, a finished work in Christ Jesus. I will enjoy all it's benefits. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.
