DUTIES
1 Chronicles 26:20-21,27
Other Levites, led by Ahijah, were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries of the gifts dedicated to the Lord.
From the family of Libni in the clan of Gershon, Jehiel was the leader.
These men dedicated some of the plunder they had gained in battle to maintain the house of the Lord.
Every believer has a duty as a member of the body of Christ and the duties vary according to our talents, gifts and calling. We cannot say one is more important than the other, but we are certain that every member has a function and duty.
We see David in the chapters of Chronicles which we have been going through, assigning various duties to the various families in Israel from temple duties, to king duties and also military.
No one is left out even when you do not have a specific duty you must be a giver to make sure that there is progress and functionality.
Much more has Christ given every believer a duty in the church. Here we mean the body of Christ.
Listen, no matter what a denomination claims, there is only one church and it is the one Christ is betrothed to and it is neither, Copthic, Roman Catholic, Protestant, Pentecostal, Charismatic or whatever we call it.
The church is where Christ is Lord and no one else lords it over other believers. If we get this right then all these rubbish we hear and see these days would stop.
This said, every believer is part of the body and they play their part in their local assembly as a member of the body, in the church as one body and as an ambassador of Christ to the world. No part is irrelevant.
1 Corinthians 12:12,14-16,18,25,27
The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.
Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part.
If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body.
And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body?
But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it.
This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other.
All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.
So dear believer you are an important part of the body of Christ, make sure you are useful in your local assembly, to the body of Christ in general and also to the world where you represent Christ everywhere; at home, school, work, neighbourhood and even online.
Listen, you have a duty, you and your household, make the most of it.
Help us Good Lord.
