TAKE ADVANTAGE
2 Kings 19:15-16,19
And Hezekiah prayed this prayer before the lord: “O Lord, God of Israel, you are enthroned between the mighty cherubim! You alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You alone created the heavens and the earth.
Bend down, O Lord, and listen! Open your eyes, O Lord, and see! Listen to Sennacherib’s words of defiance against the living God.
Now, O Lord our God, rescue us from his power; then all the kingdoms of the earth will know that you alone, O Lord, are God.”
What was Hezekiah's response to Sennacherib's threat? He took it to the Lord in prayer.
He had the right, he was a servant of the Lord.
This is the type of relationship God wants from us.
Listen to the summary of Hezekiah's character as king once again:
2 Kings 18:1-3,5-6
Hezekiah son of Ahaz began to rule over Judah in the third year of King Hoshea’s reign in Israel.
He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.
He did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, just as his ancestor David had done.
Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before or after his time.
He remained faithful to the Lord in everything, and he carefully obeyed all the commands the Lord had given Moses.
Do you see the character of king Hezekiah, because of this loyalty to God, he could come boldly to God and make requests.
This is the type of relationship God wants with us. Hezekiah did not only need to consult prophets, priests etc, He could also talk with God on his own. (We would see how this saved his life later on)
Where there prophets in his time? Yes, the great prophet Isaiah lived at that time among others. He worked with Isaiah and God also sent Isaiah to him. However, the king didn't play with his own access to God, he used it.
Have in mind that all these happened even before Christ was revealed!
So child of God, what is your excuse? Today we have something better:
Hebrews 4:16
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Christ has been revealed, we have been made sons, yet some of us cannot even enjoy the relationship Hezekiah had with God!
Some have become "men of God" worshippers, instead of them leading us to a deeper relationship with Christ, some are moving you to a deeper relationship with them. Be careful, don't put the sincere ones in trouble. Many do not know what it is to have a one to one with God, who is supposed to be our Father. Is this right?
Can we learn from king Hezekiah can we take good advantage of our sonship to live the victorious life God has already worked for us in Christ?
Wake up!
O help us Good Lord.
PRAYER
Loving Father I take advantage of my sonship to You to continually be in Your presence. There is nothing You cannot take care of, for me, for You said that nothing is too hard for You. Take all the glory, honour and praise Lord. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
@the watcher.
