FILLED WITH GOD'S SPIRIT

Ephesians 5:18

Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,


We live in times when the world has developed greatly, the inventions and discoveries available today where almost impossible in centuries past. The same way ideologies which were abominable and condemnable in time past are now being treated as a norm.


These has caused many who would have been in time past reprimanded or cast away for their abominable act now being accepted and laws being formed to protect them.


We know that these things have been prophesied to happen when the end is near:


2 Timothy 3:1,13

You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times.

But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.


How do we protect ourselves and not get polluted with the world?


John 15:4

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.


1 John 2:15-17

Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.

For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.

And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.


Is scriptures saying that we shouldn't enjoy the "good things of life"? No, we must however understand what is actually the good things of life. If you have money and the only joy you have is drinking and getting drunk with alcohol, smoking cigarettes and taking in other harmful substances, having illicit sexual relationships carelessly etc. Then you fall into the category of those who are lost in the world.


It doesn't end there, the mad lust for power, fame and relevance is an indication of being lost to the world. You could trade anything just to keep relevant. You are then not of God but of the world.


Not left out are those who join brethren in fellowship or worship yet they carry in their heart, hate, envy, bitterness etc. Including gossip, backbiting and all other forms of hate and malice.


1 John 2:9

If anyone claims, “I am living in the light,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is still living in darkness.


They are all lost in the world.


If we are really going to live God's way, we must submit to His Spirit and not to the drunkenness of the world!


Psalms 37:4-5

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.

Commit everything you do to the Lord. 

Trust him, and he will help you.


We must submit to God's Spirit.


1 John 2:20,27

But you are not like that, for the Holy One has given you his Spirit, and all of you know the truth.

But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.


We must be filled with God's Spirit if we are going to be victorious.


Remember that He is the mark of our sonship and citizenship of God's kingdom.


We cannot afford to be drunk with wine the world mixes for its own, it leads to eternal damnation.


Revelation 17:2

The kings of the world have committed adultery with her, and the people who belong to this world have been made drunk by the wine of her immorality.”


Deliver us O Lord, may we live the redemption life which You have given us in Christ Jesus.


Fill us Lord afresh with Your Holy Spirit, as we continue to study Your word, stay in prayer and worship.


We win.


Thank You Heavenly Father for You have called us Your blessed.

WHEN YOU HAVE KEPT ALL THE LAWS
