TOWARDS THE PROMISE
Genesis 11:10,25-26
This is the account of Shem’s family. Two years after the great flood, when Shem was 100 years old, he became the father of Arphaxad.
After the birth of Terah, Nahor lived another 119 years and had other sons and daughters.
After Terah was 70 years old, he became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
When God says this will be, it is as He says. Most times we feel disappointed because it doesn't happen within our timing system. We must always remember that God created time and put us in it, He is not limited by time.
In Genesis 6, we hear God say before the flood:
Genesis 6:3
Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years.”
Some at that time will say, oh, I have lived more than 120 years, so . . .
However, reading through the genealogies we see the years trickling down as one generation goes to the other. Genesis 11:10-26.
So also for those who have received direct promises from the Lord, we are not allowed to feel frustrated when it seems it has not come to pass within our own timing system. No, we will see the great character of patience in men like Abraham, Jacob and Joseph as we go through the book of Genesis.
Sometimes we also contribute to the delay of the fulfilment of our promises because we refuse to follow instructions.
Remember that all who were led to the promise land first went through the wilderness: Abraham, Joseph, David, even Christ Jesus Himself had to be led by the Spirit to the wilderness to be tempted.
We must grow up!
In all, God's thought towards us is of good. He always has listening ears to our call for help.
As we go closer to the end of this year we go closer to fulfilment of our promises and we will be strong and alive to enjoy everyone of them.
The Lord always has our best interest at heart.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Glory to God forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
