Genesis 19:36-38

As a result, both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their own father.

When the older daughter gave birth to a son, she named him Moab. He became the ancestor of the nation now known as the Moabites.

When the younger daughter gave birth to a son, she named him Ben-ammi. He became the ancestor of the nation now known as the Ammonites.

We pray not to get entangled in situations that would cause us to make bad choices, for definitely there are consequences for those decisions.

We recall how the desperation of Sarah caused the birth of Ishmael. The decision of Lot led to one problem then to series of other problems. Then this abominable one by his daughters. It is expected for they lived among people with sinful record.

Genesis 19:37-38

When the younger daughter gave birth to a son, she named him Ben-ammi. He became the ancestor of the nation now known as the Ammonites.

The effect of their action yet rubbed on the future generations for the Moabites and Ammonites, for they were positioned to be driven out. They were counted among the nations of sin.

Ezra 9:1

When these things had been done, the Jewish leaders came to me and said, “Many of the people of Israel, and even some of the priests and Levites, have not kept themselves separate from the other peoples living in the land. They have taken up the detestable practices of the Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians, and Amorites.

To escape all these as we continue to learn from the record of those before us, we need to learn to ask the Lord.

Even if we find ourselves in the supposed worst situation, when we cry out to the Lord in prayer and listen to Him in His divers way of revelation, He will direct our path and give us a way of escape.

Proverbs 3:5-7

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.

Seek His will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. 

Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

1 Corinthians 10:13

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

Help us Good Lord. May we not get entangled in what will cause us to take despicable actions.

He calls us blessed.
