TAKE CARE OF YOUR ENVIRONMENT

Genesis 2:15

The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.

There is this ideology about God taking control of all things that make some believers feel that they are not responsible for anything.

I remember talking to a cleric of a certain sect concerning children and that every man who brings a child into the world is responsible for that child's upkeep. The cleric argued that it is God that gives children so the person do not need to worry about the child, just bring them forth and God will do the rest.

Well the truth is that everyone is accountable for their action. Man was created to take care of their environment. Yes all good gifts come from God but it is given to us to take care of.

Remember Christ's teaching on the parable of the talents:

Matthew 25:14,19,23,29

“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone.

“After a long time their master returned from his trip and called them to give an account of how they had used his money.

“The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’

To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.

We are accountable for how we take care of what God has given us, even the environment we live in. We must live responsibly like those who will give account.

So help us Good Lord.
