WHEN TO LEAVE THE SCENE

John 3:27-29

John replied, “No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven.

You yourselves know how plainly I told you, ‘I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for him.’

It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the best man is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at his success.

Do we know when it is time to leave a place, a position or a project, or even a person's life?

These decision comes difficult to many because they neither understood their assignment, the timeline or the purpose.

John the Baptist understood clearly that he was not the Messiah:

John 3:28

You yourselves know how plainly I told you, ‘I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for him.’

He was to do the announcement for a season then leave the scene for the Messiah to do His work:

There are parts we play in people's lives, in people's business, in that community, that position etc. The problem comes when we do not know when it is time to handover the baton.

Holding on to a position when our time on that assignment has passed could mar the great work we have already done. It would block us from moving to the greater or next assignment.

It doesn't mean that person who is next on the assignment list is greater than us as was the case of Christ and John the Baptist, NO! It could just mean that we have done our part and it is the time for the next person to do the next stage.

Paul understood this:

1 Corinthians 3:6

I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.

So are you holding on to what ought to have been expiriated in your hands, and thus you are blocking the next person's assignment from being fulfilled? Like most African leaders who believe that they are meant to rule forever, that no other person should take the seat of power other than themselves. Truly most of them are totally clueless.

We must not fail because we do not know when it is time to move on to the next stage or the next assignment. No

We must know when to leave the scene, some have said that the best time to leave is when the ovation is loudest - I believe it is actually when you have served the purpose and it is time to move to the next level.

Are we holding onto someone's life and liberty because we feel they owe us something? Do we think because we brought salvation to one then they are slaves to us. Worse is that some have enslaved many that they are not even their fruit, they were not the one that ministered salvation to them. We should know when to let go!

May all our fruits remain in the Lord forever.

Dear Lord show us the direction. May we not miss it but fulfil it.

He calls us blessed.
