ABOUT TEMPTATIONS

James 1:3

Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

There is no one who has not faced temptation, even our Lord Christ faced temptation.

Temptation itself is not sin, everyone gets tempted one time or the other.

Temptation comes in different forms and from various sources. It could be as a result of what you have done or what you did not do. It may be as a result of:

* thoughts;

* what we see;

* what we hear;

* a raising appetite;

* an emotion/desire/lust;

* anger;

* pride/ego;

* fear;

* doubt;

* riches;

* what someone else does;

really the sources are many.

Just like a pit, temptation becomes a problem when you - "fall into it".

It may be by ignorance, lack of self control or just mere carelessness. No matter what it is, there is no excuse to fall.

The consequences are there, every error has its consequences and if you have studied the scriptures, you will understand that they of different degrees. Thus every instruction and guidance of God is for our benefit.

"LISTEN, WITHOUT YOU DOING ANYTHING, TEMPTATION ABOUNDS, THEN WHY COMPOUND IT MORE BY DOING THOSE THINGS THAT LEAD TO OR OPEN YOU TO TEMPTATIONS! SELAH"

So, what do we do?

James 1:13-15

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

We must watch for it's approaching sign and then avoid it.

How?

Matthew 26:41

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.

WATCH and PRAY!

We must know when it is temptation, it is easier to destroy the larva than to kill the grown snake. So kill it when it is born.

First it is conceived then the thoughts come, when you give it room, it develops/grows and then produces sin, then sin would lead to death.

Oh how many glorious things we have missed because of sin!

Isaiah 59:2

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear.

A matured christian is one who knows when temptation comes knocking and doesn't fall into it.

This year the Lord would keep us from falling into temptations. His Spirit will keep us alert to know when temptation rises, and by His power we will trample it underfeet.

For we cannot exchange our peace with the Heavenly Father for a temperal pleasure of the world. Nothing can satisfy us more than the joy of the Lord.

Help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.

Love
