WHEN KNOWLEDGE IS USEFUL
1Corinthians 13:8
Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
James 3:17
But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.
God is the all knowing.
Psalm 139 talked about God's knowledge of all things, yet one great thing about it, is that this knowledge of all, was imbedded in the nature and person of God,
- Love.
A proverb says " no one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care".
What is that knowledge we have that makes us feel we are superior to others, or make us feel that we can look down on others. No, that is not what we are given knowledge for. The advantage of knowing should be to make others better and to bring them closer to fulfil their purpose in life.
When knowledge is not backed with love, it profits nothing.
1Corinthians 13:2
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
We could keep studying, getting revelations and knowing mysteries, but if we do not act and relate with love it is nothing.
Most of the great exploits done in times of old as recorded in the bible were done by men who were not that knowledgeable as we may see it, but their knowledge was with the love of God and for man. They thus became relevant and the Lord gave them the knowledge they needed to act.
Paul wrote:
1Corithians 1:27
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;
And the preacher also said:
Ecclesiastes 12:12
And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.
Therefore it is not how much we know, but how much love we have, we are to use this knowledge to make others useful to God and to bless lives.
Wisdom of God is in love but that of the world is puffed up.
Remember:
1 Corinthians 13:9-10,13
Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!
But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless.
Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.
May we increase in knowledge, may we increase in the knowledge of God also and may our knowledge be in love. That it may be profitable.
He calls us blessed.
Love
