EXTRAORDINARY FAITH
Acts 20:9-12
As Paul spoke on and on, a young man named Eutychus, sitting on the windowsill, became very drowsy. Finally, he fell sound asleep and dropped three stories to his death below.
Paul went down, bent over him, and took him into his arms. “Don’t worry,” he said, “he’s alive!”
Then they all went back upstairs, shared in the Lord’s Supper, and ate together. Paul continued talking to them until dawn, and then he left.
Meanwhile, the young man was taken home alive and well, and everyone was greatly relieved.
Perfect faith is certainty, it is being so sure that you do not waver or fear.
For faith is worked in love!
Galatians 5:6
For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.
FAITH EXPRESSING ITSELF IN LOVE!
So Paul was not moved, the young boy who was at his service fell three stories down to his death. What will you have done?
Paul was so filled with faith, (remember faith and love go hand in hand) instead of acting fear he acted faith. Listen
1 John 4:18a
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear.
That is the kind of faith Christ taught us about, that a minute part of it could move mountains.
Our Lord asked a pertinent question:
Luke 18:8b
But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”
And very well true as we see the type of lives that we live as believers today, WILL HE FIND FAITH in you?
It reminds us of this hymn by Federick W. Faber(1814 - 1863)
The first verse and chorus goes thus:
Faith of our fathers, living still
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword,
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whene’er we hear that glorious word!
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
What type of faith do we have today?
Paul taught for hours beginning from morning to late in the night. Not motivational speeches, business lectures, gimmicks or self glory. He taught the living and active word. Thus it followed with power.
1 Corinthians 2:1,4-5
When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan.
And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit.
I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God.
Given 2hours to teach the word can the Spirit deliver God's word in His power through you. Can you effectively lead/coordinate a Bible study. Do you have faith? Do you have love? Remember the character of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23.
Help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
Love
