YOU FIRST

Matthew 7:3-5
“And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?
How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye?
Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

In safety, health and other caregiving practices you are taught to protect yourself first before helping others. For instance in case of flight emergency you wear your oxygen first before you try to help anyone else even your child. Same applies if you are giving care to someone with a disease, you protect yourself first.

The truth is that it is only when you are okay or alive that you can be of help to someone else.

Christ implies that many jump out to correct even to judge another while they are guilty of a greater offence. Imagine a governor who is caught stealing and is not prosecuted, signing a death warrant for a person who just made a passing comment. It is a height of irresponsibility, injustice and wicked.

An adage says that when you point a finger at someone, the remaining four points back at you. The best correction or judgement to give to anyone is to be a "Good Example".

1 Timothy 4:12
Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.

This Christ did also, He did not only teach He showed us the example:

John 13:15
I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.
In my small brush in Environmental law, I came across this maxim:

"he Who Comes Into Equity Must Come With Clean Hands."

Before you judge, are your hands clean?
Is your life an example of God’s nature, do you display the fruit of the Spirit or are you only known for the works of the flesh.

Instead of being quick to judge, be quick to commend the good parts then when you correct, it will be out of love.

We must understand that without correction many will walk in disgrace, truly it takes a mirror for one to see their face and others can be your mirror. Selah

Hello believer, your greatest mirror is God's Word and His Spirit is the one who interprets to us. This is why we study everyday. It is also the reason for this daily word (ikthewatcher.blogspot.com). We must feed our spirit daily, the same way we check ourselves in the mirror to avoid embarrassments.

James 1:22-24
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.
You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.

So start the judgment with yourself, then you will have the moral standing to judge another. Be that good example.

*However, remember that It is a privilege to be corrected! *

The Spirit will lead us aright.

He calls us blessed.
