THE FIRST THING
1Peter 2:1
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
If you know something about drafting or Engineering Design, you will agree that every building, factory or even fittings(HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing) all begin from the foundation, the conceptional drawings begin with the plan.
In Summary, the foundation matters. When the foundation is wrong, the building surely is already defected.
Today we see some who have come a long way in this faith business but have not had the experience of being breastfed as babes, the preliminary nutrition is missing thus they are defective in knowledge, power and even character.
Almost all defects, errors, backsliding, lukewarmness and hypocrisy are birthed from this lack of preliminary spiritual nutrition. Thus we birth, gullible, inconsistent and carnal (if I may say) believers.
Matthew 28:19-20
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
As we keep going into the world to reach out to people, are we bringing in disciples or just making members? If they are disciples then they ought to be taught, that is what Christ is talking about in Matthew 28:19-20.
Do we know what baptism means in those verses? The water is an outward show but the word is the baptism itself.
John 17:17, 15:3
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
That was what happened to Cornelius and his family:
Acts 10:44
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
See the way John the baptist described it:
Matthew 3:11
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire:
THE FIRST THING MUST BE DONE!
The new convert must be fed the sincere milk of the word, this nutrition is key, they then continue in growth thereby 1Peter 2:2.
Begin with the word and continue in the word. Glory to God.
If any has not yet gone through the breastfeeding, there is yet time to correct the anomaly. There is the adult school. Unlearn the errors and learn the truth.
2Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
As I told a small group of great believers lately, many in churches today hold on to the words of one pastor or the other, waiting for one prophesy or the other, one declaration or the other. Hmm, many are not built on the rock of the word.
No, instead the word of God should dwell in us richly:! selah
Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Putting in mind that we all (especially myself) keep studying and learning everyday.
We will get it right. We will please the Lord.
