WE ARE FAMILY

Ephesians 1:5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. We have family! we become a member of this family, because of Grace that came from God to a people whom He created for Himself. What happened at the beginning, when man fell?  Man chose to test the other side thinking it was freedom, but alas no, it was to sell the birthright to the one who envied the man and wanted to see him fall. Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?" Revelation 20:2(NLT) He seized the dragon—that old serpent, who is the devil, Satan—and bound him in chains for a thousand years. Man was created independent with power to choose and to have dominion over all creatures and things created. Yet needed to be sustained by...

WHERE ARE THE GODLY WOMEN?

Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that [they be] in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; Where are our elderly women? The Anglican Communion has the group, the Christian Mothers and further still the Mothers Union. This group may be called various names in different denominations such as "Good women" and "Awesome Treasures". These group of women ought to stand out as mentors and guardians for the younger women to guide them rightly in their conducts as wives, mothers and christian women. Titus 2:3 gives some description: * Holiness: are our elderly women holy, are they separated to God? * Truthful(Not false accuser) Do they avoid gossip and rumour mongering? * Can they control how they eat and drink (how do they behave in gatherings when food and drink is served?) * Do they teach good things, are they examples? In appearance, speech and conduct? Titus 2 : 4 & 5 That they may teach the young women t...

ELDERS, Where are you?

Titus 2:2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. We live in times when we seek for the elders, the prophets and leaders who are the mouth piece of God, people who are counselors and advisers to the young generation. Where are they? Deuteronomy 6:7 "you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Do we still have elders or have all abandoned the role model status. Have the elders joined the younger ones to misbehave or are they still found without reproach? Titus 2:2(NLT) Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience. * Are our elders self controlled or do they speak and act carelessly. Do they control what they say and how they react? * Do our elders pull respect or do they just demand it (respect is earned ...

HAVE YOU OVERCOME THE WORLD?

1John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? We live in this world and though we are in the world those of us who have been born anew are not of this world but have been adopted as sons of God. John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name: Many live in this world and feel that they have conquered the world because they have acquired wealth,  position(s) of power,  intellect or fame. Or have a form of religion. No they have not conquered the world they actually have been conquered of the world. Why? Mark 8 : 36 & 37 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Even the devil made Jesus this offer: Matthew 4 : 8 & 9  Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and ...

WE PRAY

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Never stop praying.  Prayer is key to the growth and sustenance of the believer. One of the reasons people get weary in praying is when they feel that their prayer(s) are not answered. When you pray, remember what Jesus said: Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. We sometimes forget those times we were in a dilemma, we called out the name of the Lord and instantly He takes control. Some of us are yet to see prayer as communication with God and not just an ask and receive routine. James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume [it] upon your lusts. When we pray a lot of activities take place, we need to remember that we pray to change things. Just like Jabez' prayer. Do we also understand that when we change a part, the other part is automatically affected. Take the case of the sons of Zebedee: Matthew 20:20 & 21 Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with he...

GOT GOT YOU (a reminder)

Isaiah 61:9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they [are] the seed [which] the LORD hath blessed. Some see the beginning of another week as a strain, that the hustling begins again.  Some have fears and doubts, an aftermath of events of the previous week,  unresolved issues or maybe still searching for an opening. Whatever the case may be, we need to give God the glory for the grace to be.  If you are His own, one thing is sure,  He takes care of His own, he leads into each day with a fresh newness. Let your spirit be lifted, let His presence flow. For "the brightness of each day is the evidence of success on your way" Remember that as a child of God, things don't happen to you, they happen for you. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose. Do you feel the storms,  i...

I STILL TRUST IN GOD

Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God [is] my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD Yahweh [is] my strength and [my] song; he also is become my salvation. When we say trust, we mean to depend on, and this is established not just when things are all right but actually when all seems to have crashed, when all hopes seems to have been lost. The question is if you do not trust in the Lord then who will you trust? Will you trust in man? Will you trust in yourself? Will you go to the darkness? Of course man can fail but God would not, it is wisdom to trust in the Lord. However knowing that times of tests would come many feel it is futile to do so, when you speak of business deals,  daily routines, and many other transactions we have to do here on earth it sounds weird to some when you bring the Lord into the picture. Though some have gotten it wrong, thinking that God would do for us what He has already empowered us to do. No He doesn't, yet we know that we cannot get carried away a...

FACING CHALLENGES AND TRIALS

Proverbs 24:10 If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small Every human has faced and will face difficult times. For trial and challenges are common to man. The degree may be different but they will indeed come. As I write I am currently facing mine. Selah. The real strength of a man is dependent on the ability to face trials and tribulations. As we ask during my school days playing chess games "will he crack?". It is never easy to face trials,  we carry a physical body, thus, we can feel physical pain.  More so when it goes further to the inner man the pain can be gruesome. Much respect to great pain bearers like Job and David. These men saw sorrow and were yet able to keep themselves together. Some of our not too distant fathers faced trials and stood strong. What makes it more painful most times are humans themselves.  Friends, foes and bystanders could become irritating, with conscious and unconscious negative and unneeded contributions and blame games...
