ALL GLORY TO GOD

Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. As we continue this week and year. Yes. . . * We have requests * We have something bothering us * We have a big project, job or assignment on our hands * There may be an issue in the family * We may need a financial provision urgently * There may be someone who needs healing * We may have a matter to settle or an issue to resolve * Someone may have hurt or annoyed us * We await news, or wait for a report . . . .yes and maybe others not mentioned. Notwithstanding, today we need to lay them all aside and just acknowledge Him who made us to see today, give Him praise, worship Him, give Him thanks . . . Let's set today aside to recognise Him who made all things and who controls all things. Revelation 7:12 saying: "Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our G...

LET'S GO TO CHURCH

Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. If you have been born again, that is accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. You have become part of His body and definitely you have a role. 1Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. As a family member you cannot afford to stay away from other family members. The bible says there is a need to edify one another. Ephesians 4:16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. When you stay away from the brethren other things begin to draw your attention and most times they are distractions to who you are in Christ Jesus. The issues always arise if you have not found where your brethren are. Thank God for denominat...

GIVE GOD THE GLORY

Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. As we continue this year. BE CAREFUL HOW YOU SPEAK

Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. Nothing pierces the heart with pain more than words. Some say it is better to be physically hit than to be smitten by words. God expects us to be careful with our words. Do you know that power lies in our tongue and Jesus said we will account for every idle word we speak? Matthew 12:36 "But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. Also, our words prophesy into our lives, when we speak we provoke angels and if we are careless, we also instigate other spirits into action by our words. Matthew 12:37 "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." When we speak, what should be the outcome? Our speech as believers should be to:  * edify one another (improve one another) * speak the truth * correct in love * counsel and to teach Titus 2:15 Speak these thi...

YOU ARE SPECIAL

Psalm 139:14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. Envy no one, you were made special, no copy of you exists, you are dynamic and different. You may know others who have the same goals, aspirations or exhibit the same talent/gifts with you but yet you are different. One thing you are not, is irrelevant. You are a class all by yourself. People could confuse you because of the state/position they see you at a particular point in time (be it high or low). It is their loss, for it limits them from seeing who you really are in the Spirit so they respond to you from the limited perception. * Abraham: Abimelech misjudged Abraham Genesis 20:7 "Now therefore, restore the man's wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours. * Joseph: his brothers, father, Potiphar and his wife misjudged him Ge...

YOUR THOUGHTS

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee. Do we understand that trusting God is actually the lifestyle of the believer? The portion of the verse of prophesy we see in Isaiah 26:3 spoke of the difficult part. . . "whose mind is stayed on thee" ... Many will speak, threats will come, fears will arise it is common in the world but when everyone is jittery, we should put our trust in God. It brings us to the revelation through Apostle Paul: Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. The renewing of the mind is a change from that which we have learnt from the world to that which the spirit of God breeds in us. That is, our mind is on Christ Jesus, we are transformed to His person day after day. 2 Corinthians 5:17(NLT) This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become...

WALK IN THE TRUTH

3John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Everyone desires to live in good health, a complete prosperity that is in BODY, SOUL and SPIRIT! That was what Apostle John was prophesying in the book of 3John. 3John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Many quote and claim this verse, but do they know the premise to this verse! Let us check: 3John 1:3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. The criteria for walking in prosperity, body, soul and spirit is "walking in the truth". Firstly, we must remember that Jesus the Christ is the truth: John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, [but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Once we have established this we can go beyond morals to li...

BETRAYAL!

Psalm 109:5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love. In the last days the scriptures prophesied that there would be betrayals among brethren. Many would breech trusts that ought to reign in relationships for moments of pleasure, greed and selfishness. One reason this would happen is that in these latter days, many would develop "itching ears" they would not endure sound doctrine. 2Timothy 4 : 3 & 4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. The fear of God has been removed and replaced with the chase for prosperity, relevance and religion. Forgetting that we would all give an account. Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil. Many pray, fast and do church things ...

OUR VISIONS

Habakkuk 2:2-3 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make [it] plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. When it comes to visions, they come in different forms and for various purposes. * It could be a direct mission to solve a problem or achieve a particular goal. * It could be a revelation of one's lifetime purpose * An instruction concerning a specific issue * An instruction or revelation to someone else. * An idea or direction to cause a turn around in an area of one's life. They could be for: * oneself; * someone else; * a family; * a church denomination; * the community; * a nation; The Lord reveals to us according to what capacity we can run with. It is said that a lot of ideas and visions are trapped in the grave, hmm quite a statement. The truth is when you lose your opportu...

OUR DREAMS

Deuteronomy 13:1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, Your dream is that which leaps you to the next level, that which breeds and stimulates you to move on.  For your visions and dreams are your ability to see with your mind. Selah A lot of things have been taught and said about dreams and visions by our older brethren and later ministers and more would still come. However what we are interested in today is reviving lost dreams and avoiding swapping of instructions. Why do dreams die and visions get swapped: * How people feel about it: Genesis 37:5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told [it] his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. It is our dream therefore it doesn't have to appeal to everyone. Maybe to those who are meant to contribute to its success or those who are to be blessed by it. * Delays: Joseph had to wait long: from the pit, to slavery, to prison, and yet more delay. Genesis 40:23 Yet did not the chief b...

THE GLORY OF GOD

2Chronicles 20:6 and said: "O LORD God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You? One thing is certain, that in all that man has done and will do, the focus will be on the Alpha and the Omega. Be they believers, non-believers and even atheists it is all around the fact that it all begins with and ends with God. The reference point is always God, that He is, or He is not. That He wants it this way or He wants it that way. That there is only one way or that there are many ways. No matter the stand it all circles around God. For those who have not believed, they will eventually believe, but at what time they finally do, will thus determine if we should rejoice over them or cry for them. If it is on this earth, that is in their lifetime, then we can rejoice, but if it is after here then it is tragic. Daniel 4:17 'This decision is...

GOD IS GOOD

Psalms 40:5 Many, O LORD my God, [are] thy wonderful works [which] thou hast done, and thy thoughts [which are] to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: [if] I would declare and speak [of them], they are more than can be numbered. As believers we could at one point or another face challenges that we wish we did not face, at those times we could wonder if God is there for us.  Is God good? Yes. What we need to do at those times of challenges is to remember the testimonies. We ought to at these times focus on His goodness to us. Have you tried writing down things the Lord has done for you since the year started, if you do you would definitely run out of ink. Each time we see someone else face difficulty, we should remember that it could be us, yet the Lord keeps us. Till we leave this earth, we would have times of need. Times when we would need God's special hand. Glory to God, for He has promised to be there for us. Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer the...

DOES GOD STILL SPEAK?

Genesis 35:11 And God said unto him, I [am] God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; What is God saying about this? What is God's will? What step should I take? Questions keep raging in our hearts over different issues, we want answers and very well we do. 2Timothy 3: 16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,  that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. The word of God still remains potent and keeps us in tune with what the Father says. The Holy Spirit gives us deep interpretation and also the wisdom to apply. A believer who is conversant with the word of God would easily understand what God says at each point in time. When Jesus arose and read the scripture prophesying about Himself, he said that the scriptures were fulfilled in the presence of...

GET OUT OF THE WELL

Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. The story of the man who was often warned about a well close to his house but didn't listen has two versions to it. The first was that he fell and he didn't survive the fall. The second was that he fell and by favour did not hit his head on the walls but hit water. He was later discovered after many hours, he spent those hours praying for help, he was eventually pulled out. That one would err is not strange, many have fallen through the journey of life, however the type of fall determines if they would recover or not. 1John 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. Sin unto death in this verse does not literally mean that they physically died immediately the sin was committed, many have translated this in relation with Jesus' earlier word on sin against the Holy Spirit, which would not be forgiven. However this topic is talking of errors that lead to death ...

LISTEN, BE CAREFUL

Proverbs 29:1 He, that being often reproved hardeneth [his] neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. The story is told of a man who was often warned about a well close to his house. It was a deep old well and this man loved to sit at its edge. He ignored the warnings assuring himself that he had mastered his positioning. Eventually that which was feared happened, he fell into the well. It is dangerous for one to be over-confident with knowledge, the false confidence of having everything under control. Caution is thrown to the wind and thus carelessness breeds disaster. Are we sitting on the edge of a well, do we take invaluable risks? Like a man who juggles his heart in his hands. If it drops it breaks and most times without remedy. Proverbs 5:12&13 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;  And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me! Yes. However, we must be careful whose instruc...

FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS

Proverbs 1:2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction. Jeremiah 17:23 But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction. Instructions come in various ways, for various reasons and for different purposes. We could have instructions for: * Health * Family * Business * Career * Marriage * For spiritual living * For the after life The need for instruction cannot be overemphasized when we understand that, as humans, we have limitations: * We see to a level * We think to a level * We remember to a level * We then act according to the measure of what we know Thus we need instructions and directions. The glorious is when it is the Lord instructing and directing. The bible says: Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth [cometh] knowledge and ...

DON'T BETRAY A TRUST

Matthew 10:4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. This is one of the worst things anyone could do. To earn a trust takes time, to destroy it however, takes a shorter time. "Whether a friendship, family relationship, business or personal partnership, any bond is built on trust. Without trust, you have nothing. With it, you can do great things. Think about it." - Lolly Dascal Today we see a lot of betrayal in the church, work places, families, business partners, friends and in politics. One major cause is selfishness wanting to satisfy ourselves, lust after a desired pleasure, money or power. It is a high level of foolishness which never goes unpunished. IT SHOULD NOT NE KNOWN Amongst BELIEVERS?! Mark 14:21 The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born. Matthew 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, ...

DON'T SINK, STAY AFLOAT

Matthew 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" We can look at the world and all its issues as a big sea which each of us have to walk on. Every step we take leads us forward progressively to fulfil our goals and to accomplish our purpose. The dictionary defines "afloat" as: "making successful progress under one's own steam." We as believers cannot afford to sink, no, more still when we serve a God that is above all and has all! However, there are things we need to do to keep us afloat, they include: * Stay light : get rid of all unnecessary burden of sin, guilt, hate, tribalism, religions, jealousy, backbiting,  worry and so on. Romans 13:12 - 14 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.  Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in li...

IT IS ALL ABOUT GOD

Ephesians 4:6 NLT one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all. What is all the fuss about, why all the discipline, spirituality and teachings. The truth is, it is all about Him, God, the Father! He began it, and He will also end it! Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Repent: (theology intransitive) To be sorry for sin as morally evil, and to seek forgiveness; to cease to love and practice sin. Man fell away from his glory when he sinned in the beginning. Man then needed salvation from the power of sin and death. This was what Jesus the Christ came to do. The question was "what did God command?" Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Exodus 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying, These commandments through the generations were not understood by ...

Are You a Good Soil?

Matthew 13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth [it]; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. The parable of the sower is a  deep insight Christ gave into what happens to man when he interacts with the word of God. Christ said this parable was the key to understanding other parables. Selah Mark 4:13 Then Jesus said to them, ā€œIf you can’t understand the meaning of this parable, how will you understand all the other parables? It answers some questions we ask today, such as: * Why do we have so many churches, yet people still sin against God. * Why do we have so many supposed spiritual programmes, yet the communities and nation at large are not positively impacted? * Where is the power of old that the apostles and disciples displayed? * Why does it seems as if God is so far away from us? etc . . . It is because of the soil, which is our heart. There is nothing ...

I AM THANKFUL

1 Thessalonians 5:18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. Luke 1 : 46 & 47 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. It takes a person with understanding to consciously worship God. Though His miracles and victories prompt us to worship and give thanks, who else do we praise if not Him? Psalms 42:8 [Yet] the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song [shall be] with me, [and] my prayer unto the God of my life. We could get occupied with what our mind sees or worries about, the question remains "what of those things we don't see and are not conscious of?" Surely, God takes care of them! Psalms 40:5 Many, O LORD my God, [are] thy wonderful works [which] thou hast done, and thy thoughts [which are] to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: [if] I would declare and speak [of them], they are more than can be numbere...

DON'T STAY TIRED

Hebrews 12:12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; We are not in control of things that happen outside of us. Therefore, It is natural to face times when we feel down or discouraged. It is common for man to face situations that would provoke this. 1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. We must however have in mind that one thing is important, and that is our attitude towards that situation and its effects. When challenges come, it most times looks so overwhelming, as if we have not soared through others in time past. We have, and we must let our mind know this: God has already given us victory. However, we must be careful not to be the architect of our challenges. Most difficulties man goes through are self-inflicted. When we feel we...

DO A CHECK

Proverbs 16:1 We can make our own plans, but the Lord gives the right answer. It is important to note that, we have spent 68 days already and we have 298 days left this year. The questions we should be asking now are: * What did I hear from God when the year began? * What did I promise God and myself when I began the year? * What were my written and unwritten plans and goals? * What did I plan to change and what did I plan to improve on? * How far? Do you know that your greatness today is tied to tough decisions you made yesterday? Therefore your greatest tomorrow is a function of decisions you make today. Selah Proverbs 16:9 A man's heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps. Proverbs 21:5 Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty. We are yet fresh in this year's journey, we can make amends, be more determined and achieve goals. Discover your pathway with God, allow the Holy Spirit lead you all the way . . . then . . . Begin t...

WE ARE FAMILY

Ephesians 1:5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. We have family! we become a member of this family, because of Grace that came from God to a people whom He created for Himself. What happened at the beginning, when man fell?  Man chose to test the other side thinking it was freedom, but alas no, it was to sell the birthright to the one who envied the man and wanted to see him fall. Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?" Revelation 20:2(NLT) He seized the dragon—that old serpent, who is the devil, Satan—and bound him in chains for a thousand years. Man was created independent with power to choose and to have dominion over all creatures and things created. Yet needed to be sustained by...

WHERE ARE THE GODLY WOMEN?

Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that [they be] in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; Where are our elderly women? The Anglican Communion has the group, the Christian Mothers and further still the Mothers Union. This group may be called various names in different denominations such as "Good women" and "Awesome Treasures". These group of women ought to stand out as mentors and guardians for the younger women to guide them rightly in their conducts as wives, mothers and christian women. Titus 2:3 gives some description: * Holiness: are our elderly women holy, are they separated to God? * Truthful(Not false accuser) Do they avoid gossip and rumour mongering? * Can they control how they eat and drink (how do they behave in gatherings when food and drink is served?) * Do they teach good things, are they examples? In appearance, speech and conduct? Titus 2 : 4 & 5 That they may teach the young women t...

ELDERS, Where are you?

Titus 2:2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. We live in times when we seek for the elders, the prophets and leaders who are the mouth piece of God, people who are counselors and advisers to the young generation. Where are they? Deuteronomy 6:7 "you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Do we still have elders or have all abandoned the role model status. Have the elders joined the younger ones to misbehave or are they still found without reproach? Titus 2:2(NLT) Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience. * Are our elders self controlled or do they speak and act carelessly. Do they control what they say and how they react? * Do our elders pull respect or do they just demand it (respect is earned ...

HAVE YOU OVERCOME THE WORLD?

1John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? We live in this world and though we are in the world those of us who have been born anew are not of this world but have been adopted as sons of God. John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name: Many live in this world and feel that they have conquered the world because they have acquired wealth,  position(s) of power,  intellect or fame. Or have a form of religion. No they have not conquered the world they actually have been conquered of the world. Why? Mark 8 : 36 & 37 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Even the devil made Jesus this offer: Matthew 4 : 8 & 9  Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and ...

WE PRAY

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Never stop praying.  Prayer is key to the growth and sustenance of the believer. One of the reasons people get weary in praying is when they feel that their prayer(s) are not answered. When you pray, remember what Jesus said: Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. We sometimes forget those times we were in a dilemma, we called out the name of the Lord and instantly He takes control. Some of us are yet to see prayer as communication with God and not just an ask and receive routine. James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume [it] upon your lusts. When we pray a lot of activities take place, we need to remember that we pray to change things. Just like Jabez' prayer. Do we also understand that when we change a part, the other part is automatically affected. Take the case of the sons of Zebedee: Matthew 20:20 & 21 Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with he...

GOT GOT YOU (a reminder)

Isaiah 61:9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they [are] the seed [which] the LORD hath blessed. Some see the beginning of another week as a strain, that the hustling begins again.  Some have fears and doubts, an aftermath of events of the previous week,  unresolved issues or maybe still searching for an opening. Whatever the case may be, we need to give God the glory for the grace to be.  If you are His own, one thing is sure,  He takes care of His own, he leads into each day with a fresh newness. Let your spirit be lifted, let His presence flow. For "the brightness of each day is the evidence of success on your way" Remember that as a child of God, things don't happen to you, they happen for you. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose. Do you feel the storms,  i...

I STILL TRUST IN GOD

Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God [is] my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD Yahweh [is] my strength and [my] song; he also is become my salvation. When we say trust, we mean to depend on, and this is established not just when things are all right but actually when all seems to have crashed, when all hopes seems to have been lost. The question is if you do not trust in the Lord then who will you trust? Will you trust in man? Will you trust in yourself? Will you go to the darkness? Of course man can fail but God would not, it is wisdom to trust in the Lord. However knowing that times of tests would come many feel it is futile to do so, when you speak of business deals,  daily routines, and many other transactions we have to do here on earth it sounds weird to some when you bring the Lord into the picture. Though some have gotten it wrong, thinking that God would do for us what He has already empowered us to do. No He doesn't, yet we know that we cannot get carried away a...

FACING CHALLENGES AND TRIALS

Proverbs 24:10 If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small Every human has faced and will face difficult times. For trial and challenges are common to man. The degree may be different but they will indeed come. As I write I am currently facing mine. Selah. The real strength of a man is dependent on the ability to face trials and tribulations. As we ask during my school days playing chess games "will he crack?". It is never easy to face trials,  we carry a physical body, thus, we can feel physical pain.  More so when it goes further to the inner man the pain can be gruesome. Much respect to great pain bearers like Job and David. These men saw sorrow and were yet able to keep themselves together. Some of our not too distant fathers faced trials and stood strong. What makes it more painful most times are humans themselves.  Friends, foes and bystanders could become irritating, with conscious and unconscious negative and unneeded contributions and blame games...
