ABIDE IN GOD

Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. This is what is expected of all who have come to the Lord. Our driving force should be Him who have called us. We ought to be reminded daily that our coming to the Heavenly Father is not passive, it is a whole new nature, a rebirth, such that a new thing drives us, a new reason, the very reason. The love of the Father. John 15:1&5 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. We all, saved or unsaved originated from God, thus it is when God takes away His breath from us that we die, this is physical death, however it is sinister when the spirit becomes dead because it does not have life from the Father: Acts 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets ...

OUR GOD OF MIRACLES

I still believe in miracles! Psalm 75:6&7 For promotion [cometh] neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God [is] the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. Many believe that God's miracles are limited to healing, deliverances etc. However the truth is that God has no boundaries, His blessings have no limit. Ask Solomon! Even on earth He has the final say: Psalm 24:1 The earth [is] the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. Psalm 118:23 This was the Lord's doing; It is marvelous in our eyes. We live in a time when knowledge abounds, science has made remarkable discoveries, new ways and technologies have been established. Man has discovered easy ways of doing things, faster ways of moving from place to place by land, air and water. This knowledge keeps increasing day after day. This is God's release of wisdom to man. Yet in all I still believe in miracles. I see it as a miracle, when I cannot do...

WHEN WILL THE WISE RULE?

Proverbs 29:8(NLT) Mockers can get a whole town agitated, but the wise will calm anger. Proverbs 29:8 Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise [men] turn away wrath. When will siege end, when will we have the wise rule that we may have peace and prosperity? It is terrible to have the scornful as rulers in any territory. They prefer to have chaos and are never at rest until they have discord. They do not know how to speak, they speak deceit and lies and never take responsibility. They prefer to blame others for their short falls. They are short sighted only seeking for the gains of today, they hold nothing for the coming generation. They are always indebted. Most times their long term agenda is selfish or from the evil one and brings destruction. However, the wise are more interested in having peace. They are interested in the prosperity and joy of the people. They are visionaries, they see for the next decade and plan for the next generation. We pray for these kinds of leaders ...

BE PROTECTED

Ephesians 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. The greatest folly of the believer is to think that there is no battle. No, Christ said there is, the apostles confirmed it. THERE IS A BATTLE! The joy is, we have victory. Now victory is only confirmed and established for each one, if we walk in obedience. Yes. This is both legality and divinity. For no one is what they are unless they are tried and found not wanting. Selah. The Lord is not interested in slothful disciples. Remember the word disciples connotes "discipline". This is why the apostle writes to remind us to be fitted with the whole armour. There is no playing around. "It is a serious business". Ephesians 6:12(NLT) For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenl...

LIVE NOT IN SIN

Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. The trick of the enemy from the beginning has been to lure man to disobey God. THAT HAS NOT CHANGED! Genesis 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed [is] the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat [of] it all the days of thy life; Thus when one receives the new birth (is born again), one of the first teachings we receive is to know that there is/are enemies, and their role is to bring us down. We must stand in the victory we have in Christ Jesus. When Jesus was to begin His ministry He had to be tempted and it continued, yet in all He overcame. Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. We must rem...

YOU SAY?

Matthew 12:35-37 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. One of the most difficult parts of man's maturity is to control the "tongue", however herein lies salvation and also destruction. What you say tells me what you believe and how matured, intelligent, informed and/or experienced you are. Christ in Matthew 12:36 tells us how important it is to control our tongue that we may not with our mouth bring condemnation to ourselves. James further writes: James 1:26, 3:6 If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that...

CHRIST IS FOR ALL NATIONS

Ephesians  3:9 And to make all [men] see what [is] the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: Isaiah 54:5 For thy Maker [is] thine husband; the LORD of hosts [is] his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. When you read through the prophecies of Isaiah you see a shift from the Israel - Judah monopoly to the revelation of God "of" all the earth. The liberation of the world was imminent, it was routed through the Jews, but it was a new dawn, yes a new covenant. Glory to God! Hebrews 12:18,22-24 You have not come to a physical mountain, to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai. No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering. You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, wh...

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE

1 Corinthians 1:18  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. I listened to an interview where an interviewer was moderating a talk between a christian man and another cleric from another religion. They tried to prove the redemption plan of God as illogical and false. One thing you will notice about those who try to do this is that they try to discredit Paul's writings. What they fail to understand is that of all the writings of scriptures, the writings of Paul is still the most clear revelation and interpretation of the earlier writings. Thank God for such a man that could be preserved for such a purpose. Even Peter the first of Christ had to acknowledge him in His writing. What seems foolish to them? The deity of Christ, how could God allow His Son be crucified by mortal man. How can Christ Jesus be God? Yet still be the Heavenly Father above? How can His Spirit be here and yet God is still in heaven? Wi...

WE ALWAYS WORSHIP

Matthew 4:10(NLT) “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” 1Chronicles 23:30  to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at evening; Psalms 30:12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever. The act of worship involves reverence. Our every day lives should not be complete without us giving reverence to the Heavenly Father, in school, workplace, in our business, in church, at home, in the bus, in your car, in the airplane, everywhere. John 9:31(NLT) We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but he is ready to hear those who worship him and do his will. The reason for your creation was to worship God, we were made to be an extension of His Kingdom. Do we always worship God. Worship is attributed to a deity and is even synonymous to idolatry. Another synonym is idolatry. (according to the English dictionary...

WE DO GOOD

Proverbs 11:20 The Lord detests people with crooked hearts, but he delights in those with integrity. Through scriptures we see that the Lord was interested in people who were upright in heart. Who did not delight in doing evil or bringing harm to the innocent. This is why David prophesied: Psalms 1:6(NLT) For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction. The fruit we bear of the Holy Spirit never goes contrary with uprightness, for He is Holy, separated in integrity, blameless, good, perfect without wrong. If we say we have God's Spirit in us, we reflect this very fruit. For we act according to the spirit that controls us: Matthew 7:16-18(NLT) You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. We must be cautious b...

INSTRUMENTS OF PRAISE

Ephesians 1:14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him. A man of God illustrated instruments of worship as instruments that respond to breath and touch, that is, we make music by either touching them (piano, other string instruments, drums etc) or blowing into them (trumpet, saxophone etc). When we look at our creation, the bible records that God made us the same way: Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. Yes by touch and breath. What a great illustration of our very purpose. This purpose was fully revealed in Christ Jesus, who paid the price that we will be God's praise again. Ephesians 1:5&6 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, ...

UNDERSTANDING FAITH, GRACE & LAW

Philippians 1:11 May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God. Many a modern day teacher of grace would feel that when another talks about precepts for living, they refer to walking under the law. Sometimes they accuse you of mixing the message of grace with the law, like an unsteady tide. However this is not the truth! First it is established that everyone who comes to the Heavenly Father, comes by faith in the finished work of the Messiah, Christ Jesus. It is not of works, thus no one can boost, but by grace through our faith. I love the way, the New Living Translation explained it: Ephesians 2:8-9(NLT) God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Now let us look at the very next verse: Ephesians 2:10(NLT) For ...

He said, COME!

Ephesians 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. Are you worried or troubled? When we feel that we have not gotten what we deserve, when our mind seems to forget all that we have or have been privileged to become. Instead our mind wants to dwell on what we have not yet gotten, or what seems to be delayed or that we feel that God has not been fair to us. We ought to remember that we are presently one(1) person out of more than eight billion (8,000,000,000), who are presently living on earth, not counting the innumerable who have gone ahead of us, and more who are yet to come. Yet the Heavenly cares for each one of us, to the extent that those who believe in Him have the very hairs on their head numbered that one does not fall without Him knowing. However the power of will(the power of choice) is one attribute of man that makes us godlike, and empowers us to decide if we do well or if we fail. It is that which makes us able to decide...

STAY CONNECTED TO GOD

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name: So very popular a scripture, it is unlikely that one would have received the message of salvation without this verse. However, do we know the impact of this verse, do we know the consciousness of being adopted as God's children? Isaiah 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near [me] with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: The relationship God has with us is that of Father to son, yes for every believer. This is why at the new birth God comes to live in us by His Holy Spirit. Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. This privilege ought to be for all believers. . . ALL?! That is, you believe, you are a s...

SEASON TO SEASON

Ecclesiastes 7:8(NLT) Finishing is better than starting. Patience is better than pride. Planet earth keeps moving, thus everything in it is moving - "time". This is why at the beginning of a thing we could be so excited. However it will always come to an end. How long does our excitement last? The wisdom in all, is that when the time for that season elapses, we ought to have become better and moved to a better place! Could we illustrate with our education system: Exciting when we began our primary education, however in five to six years we move away from that season, we are now talking of our secondary education. This initiates a new excitement. In another five to six years this season is over. We move to another season, four to seven years in a higher institution, always starting with a period of excitement, then we see the work to be done in that phase. The season continues, a year or two of national service. Then a new job, with its initial excitement. We could go from job...

STAY FOCUSED

Philippians 3:20&21 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. Philippians 3:21 He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control. This is a truth we must never ignore, our body as it is now continues to decay, however we are going to receive a new body. It is the ignorance of this that makes many lay their treasures on earth alone and when it is time for eternity they find that they have empty files! Now we must know for sure that there are many distractions here on earth to keep us from investing in our eternal rest. Some are things we must do, some are not necessary, no matter what category they fall in, all can become great distractions. However...

YES, THERE IS AN AFTERLIFE

Titus 2:11-13 For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. Of course there is an afterlife, life is more than we see it. We are more than this, not just mere dust, yes, our time here will pass away but our souls and spirits will remain, to go to glory and joy or to torment. This is why we follow Christ for He is the resurrection and the life. He said where He is, is where we will be also. Glory! John 14:3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.  Knowing that Christ will return to make us like Himself, free from the world's troubles and our pains, we live in expectation of Him. Not in idleness, for He did not call us ...

THERE IS NO AFTERLIFE!

Matthew 18:23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. What if there was no afterlife? Some will say, what type of question is this? There should be an afterlife. Well are we living as if there is? Are all our actions not restricted to this earthly life? Romans 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Yes all of us! The principles we live by, the lifestyle we take, the influence for all our decisions and actions. Do we have the afterlife in our heart? Are we controlled by * love of money * tribalism/racism * wrath/rage * our feelings * what people would say * pride * revenge * lust * fear * praise of man. . . . . . If we believe there is an afterlife, do we live as if there is one? The Messiah gave a parable: Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Wisdom is to know Him whom we are to account to befo...

HELP OTHERS

Romans 15:2 We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord. That we build ourselves up spiritually is essential. We ought to grow everyday, for we do love ourselves. However our divine nature takes us further than that, it makes us build others (especially the weak) up. Romans 15:3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. If we are over conscious of self, we will be of benefit to no one, and thus would not display our divine nature from God. We will be unfruitful! Romans 15:6-7 Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that God will be given glory. This is how we can be at peace with the brethren. What of those who have not believed. We keep interceding for them, inviting them to come into the great redemption which the Messiah had worked for all manki...

BECAUSE OF CHRIST

Ephesians 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; [even] in him Our reason should be: "because of Christ". We should always have it in mind that all things will end, and when it does we go to a better place without all the troubles and pains we face now. When we join other believers to worship, pray and study God's word, let us remember the reason we gather. The originator of our union. Christ Jesus. He promised that He prepares a place for us, that we might be with Him forever. Oh what great joy. John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also. So many things could take our mind from this one purpose: jealousy, convetousness, pride, selfishness, lust, relevance, mammon etc. Whatever it is that would want to take away His dominance must be resisted, it must be all ab...

NEVER TAKE REVENGE!

Romans 12:19 Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge;I will pay them back,” says the lord. Offences would surely come as we continue our journey here on earth. One thing we must learn to do is never to act when we are angry. Almost one hundred percent of the time, if we reflect on it, we find that we regret our actions. It is not that we do not get angry, the bible teaches that even when we do, it should not lead us to sin. Ephesians 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: If an enemy hurts us, well what do we expect from an enemy. However betrayal is when a friend intentionally hurts us. Check it! What makes us think it is intentional? So better to talk about it than be silent! Luke 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. If it hurts, then talk about it, it is always a wonder what we discover when we tal...
