WHEN WE POUR IT ALL
Matthew 26:7-8,12-13
While he was eating, a woman came in with a beautiful alabaster jar of expensive perfume and poured it over his head.
The disciples were indignant when they saw this. “What a waste!” they said.
She has poured this perfume on me to prepare my body for burial.
I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered and discussed.”
The alabaster box is known to be a precious stone, it was used to make the jar in which women of that time kept precious oils and perfumes, they were well sealed and thus kept the oils fresh till the time of use.
Of course they were expensive just as we read of the disciple's concern when this woman poured the oil of Christ Jesus. However, Christ who saw beyond their limited knowledge said His body was being prepared for burial.
A question comes to mind. How much of ourselves have we released to the Lord?
The woman who did this beautiful act, was referred to by one of the gospels as the woman who was forgiven by Christ of her adulterous act, another talked of Mary the sister of Martha. The question remains, how much of ourselves have we released to the Lord?
There are two things mentioned here, given to the Lord and giving to the poor. Christ says they would always be among us:
Matthew 26:11
You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.
Many have lived their whole lives stacking wealth however wealth is meaningless unless it is used to do the work of the Lord. Two things: Reaching out to lost souls and feeding the poor.
Pouring out our all to the Lord is giving Him our heart, which we do at salvation and then walking in obedience, which is living for Him. For He may not be physically here on earth but since He lives in us, we reach out to others as if it was Christ reaching out to them. Selah
We don't need to be taught about the poor, for starting from our household, our neighbours and going further we see those in need, unless we have shut our eyes to them.
Really life is meaningless if we just rise work, eat, sleep and continue the cycle again and again. It is the love of God that makes life meaningful.
Have you given Him your all?
He calls us blessed.
Love
@the watcher.
