BATTLING WITH GOD

Exodus 8:19
Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This [is] the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

When we look at the reasons why people take lightly God's power and authority even on earth, they are not far fetched:

Exodus 7:20-22
So Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord commanded them. As Pharaoh and all of his officials watched, Aaron raised his staff and struck the water of the Nile. Suddenly, the whole river turned to blood!
The fish in the river died, and the water became so foul that the Egyptians couldn’t drink it. There was blood everywhere throughout the land of Egypt.
But again the magicians of Egypt used their magic, and they, too, turned water into blood. So Pharaoh’s heart remained hard. He refused to listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had predicted.

Some, especially those in high leadership positions have tasted mundane powers and forces. Some have even consulted them while trying to attain heights. Thus the comparative, for we see that when Moses and Aaron presented their signs, Pharaoh asked his magicians to repeat the signs and they did.

Many are trapped with this display of powers that they cannot enjoy or take advantage of the Greatest power of all.

Isaiah 45:18
For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I [am] the LORD; and [there is] none else.

For yes we have lesser gods or powers, they have their powers, they have their limits. There is only One Almighty God.

Psalm 86:8
Among the gods [there is] none like unto thee, O Lord; neither [are there any works] like unto thy works.

For when men foolishly seek after these gods, they are put in bondage, it is like seeking for help from one who needs help.

They know their place and limits:

Exodus 8:18-19
Pharaoh’s magicians tried to do the same thing with their secret arts, but this time they failed. And the gnats covered everyone, people and animals alike.
“This is the finger of God!” the magicians exclaimed to Pharaoh. But Pharaoh’s heart remained hard. He wouldn’t listen to them, just as the Lord had predicted.

When anyone begins to walk in the path of darkness it becomes difficult to get out of it. For you never know how fragile the mind of man is till you have handed it over to illicit substances or evil spirits!

Secondly, the ego problem:

There is a problem when one begins a battle of ego, they could get so completely lost in it till they actually lose themselves.

We never play smart with the Heavenly Father, Ahab learnt his lesson the hard way, he could not recover!

Pharaoh kept playing with this: he will say "seek your God to take away the plague and I will let the people go". However once the plague is removed he returns back to status quo. He also learnt the hard way.

The next is the "self" problem: the great love of self that we just want to be gratified at all times. No sense of sacrifice thus we cannot please God.

The list yet goes on. . .

How many of us, our leaders and people on earth today play the same game. We promise all we can when trouble comes, however when it is removed we forget our promise and return to the errors of the past.

There is a plague in our land today, are we learning from it? Have our leaders learnt to do the right thing? It will soon pass, will we all return to failures of the past or begin to do the right things?

Lord have mercy on all of us living today, take away the plague from us. However Dear Lord, do not stop there, bring us closer to you, may we not return to our past mistakes or wrong living. Our desire is to please you.

Thank you Lord.

He calls us blessed.

Love
