WHAT YOU CONTROL
Proverbs 16:9
A man's heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.
People ask: "Do we have any control at all or does God just control all things and we are irrelevant just flowing in His tide?".
Well, we do. There is a measure of control we have over situations and that control is "the right to choose".
In all aspects of life the power we have is to choose where we stand and that power lies solely with us. The enemy knows this, heaven knows this.
That was why Joshua told the children of Israel:
Joshua 24:15
"And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
"Man" that God created was given a will, the power to decide what he would do and what will become of him. That is why judgement is even possible in the first place. That is why we give accounts.
Great men as the bible revealed to us became what they were because of the right choices they made, we have Joseph, Daniel and even Abraham all made the right choices to submit themselves to God.
If we keep this truth at heart we would be able to defeat the enemy each time he sends those ugly lurking demons to speak evil suggestions into our mind.
The enemy knows that every right decision we make takes us far from his influences and makes us enjoy the victory we have in Jesus, so he battles to ensure we keep making the wrong decisions.
Deuteronomy 30:19
"I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;
Knowing this we must therefore be careful of the decisions we make. Knowing that these decisions could either make us or mar us!
Don't work by mere emotions, think, meditate, walk in the Spirit.
Check! The people we keep around us, are they of good influence?
Proverbs 12:26
The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray.
We must not forget that the battle is in the mind!
Even prayer is a thing of the mind!
It may become difficult to spend quality time
* praying
* reading/studying
* evangelising
* counselling
* meditating
but some find it easy to stay idle, dwell in entertainment (containment) or just waste away time, worrying! Yes, any of us could easily lapse into these but we must not let it be so!
We are encouraged this morning to stand up from every form of complacency and take charge.
We will be responsible for all our choices. So we must make the right one.
There will be no excuses.
Romans 2:1a
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man
PRAYER
Loving Father, favour us today and always, grant us Your grace to continually make the right choices. We will continue to prosper and increase. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
