THE MUSICIANS

1 Chronicles 25:1,3,6

David and the army commanders then appointed men from the families of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to proclaim God’s messages to the accompaniment of lyres, harps, and cymbals. Here is a list of their names and their work:

From the sons of Jeduthun, there were Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six in all. They worked under the direction of their father, Jeduthun, who proclaimed God’s messages to the accompaniment of the lyre, offering thanks and praise to the Lord.

All these men were under the direction of their fathers as they made music at the house of the Lord. Their responsibilities included the playing of cymbals, harps, and lyres at the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman reported directly to the king.

Music had always been part of worship, we see people sing to God in time of trouble, as a response to His wonderous works and also just to show love for God.

David was known as a man of worship, the book of Psalms records songs written by Him and those appointed by Him to worship in the temple.

What were the three things required to worship in songs: skill/inspiration, the word and a heart of worship.

Do we worship today?

We are in the times when we have worship ministers who have become more like celebrities and chasing after money and fame. The reason is not far fetched.

The church has not done their part in taking care of those who minister in songs. These people practice, sharpen their skills and spend night and day perfecting their skills. They also have to get equipment needed to actually practice and be able to minister with good melody.

It is easy to blame them for charging to minister at special spiritual gatherings, we want them to give the best yet we contribute nothing to their craft. We need to do better.

This said, there is no excuse for gospel ministers to begin to mix their ministry of worship with secular or carnal things. They must see it as a spiritual duty and it's sacredness must be maintained. Nothing's stopping a music minister from having a regular job or business same for pastors and other fold of the ministry. Can we be more responsible believers?

Furthermore, we must understand that every believer should worship in songs. The key being glorifying God in His word. We see this both in the old covenant and the New.

Psalms 150:1,6

Praise the Lord!

Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven!

Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord!

Praise the Lord!

Ephesians 5:19

singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.

Colossians 3:16

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.

Our hearts must be edified so should the songs we sing.

Worship God in songs today dear one, from a pure heart sing pure melody to . . .

Ephesians 3:20-21

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Jude 1:24-25

Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.

All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.

It is not a business, you don't have to get a celebrity to lead you into worship, no matter how small or big the gathering is, the called would always worship in songs.

Praise ye the Lord.

PRAYER

I join the angels to worship You Lord, I join the Elders to bow before You, I join Your children to give You praise for You alone are the Mighty God. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.

Love
