GIVING TO GOD

1 Chronicles 29:1,9

Then King David turned to the entire assembly and said, “My son Solomon, whom God has clearly chosen as the next king of Israel, is still young and inexperienced. The work ahead of him is enormous, for the Temple he will build is not for mere mortals—it is for the Lord God himself!

The people rejoiced over the offerings, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord, and King David was filled with joy.

Listen, there is a great chaos in the church today and its origin is not far fetched. Yes the enemy fights the church, but one enemy or would I call it rebel against God is Mammon!

Matthew 6:24

“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

David had the passion and goal of building God's temple in Israel, however, he received God's message that he couldn't because of the many battles he had fought, however his son would build it.

David did not slack he began to lay down gold, silver and other things needed for building the temple. He gave all his treasures. What a commitment.

“And now, because of my devotion to the Temple of my God, I am giving all of my own private treasures of gold and silver to help in the construction. This is in addition to the building materials I have already collected for his holy Temple.

I am donating more than 112 tons of gold from Ophir and 262 tons of refined silver to be used for overlaying the walls of the buildings

(Listen: these older and even young supposed ministers accumulating wealth to themselves, have they asked themselves if what all those wealth would amount to when they finally leave this phase or have they forgotten that as they came with nothing, they would leave with nothing. Selah!)

Listen, he was NOT waiting for the people but he knew he would not leave them out, so he encouraged them to be part of it.

Notice:

* no compelling

* no threat

* no cajoling

* no mandating of any amount

Instead he led by example.

What happened?

1 Chronicles 29:6-8

Then the family leaders, the leaders of the tribes of Israel, the generals and captains of the army, and the king’s administrative officers all gave willingly.

For the construction of the Temple of God, they gave about 188 tons of gold, 10,000 gold coins, 375 tons of silver, 675 tons of bronze, and 3,750 tons of iron.

They also contributed numerous precious stones, which were deposited in the treasury of the house of the Lord under the care of Jehiel, a descendant of Gershon.

Listen again,

Giving to the Lord is not by compulsion, else, your giving would be rejected. Cain's giving was rejected, why? Evil was in his heart, it wasn't the gift that was the problem but the giver. Selah.

Jesus taught:

Matthew 5:23-24

“So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you,

leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.

The condition of the heart that gives is what matters.

Many supposed ministers of the gospel have abused this, they have taken advantage of people with lies, intimidation, cajoling and other perverse devices to fleece the people. This is not of Christ.

2 Corinthians 9:7

You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

These must be preached rightly, enough of charlatans and fraudsters parading themselves as ministers of God. Most are merely entertainers, while others are mere thieves. May the Lord deliver those with sincere hearts trapped in their devices.

Hear, it is irresponsible for any believer Not to be financially committed to their local assembly, we all contribute our quota financially and otherwise and we never neglect the poor.

No man has been assigned as God over anyone's life. Do not be deceived.

May we be true children of our Heavenly Father, giving to His work and the growth of the church not enriching individuals but fulfilling ministry.

Do you know that there are some you have been assigned to help? May your eyes be opened to see them and may you do due diligence.

Oh help us Good Lord.

PRAYER

Loving Father, You have blessed me to be a blessing to others and the church, may I not be gullible to fall into the devices of con men or wolves in sheep clothing who come in your name but may I give by your leading willingly to the poor and of course for the furtherance of Your gospel. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.

Love
