ARE YOU A GOOD SOIL?
Matthew 13:8-9,23
Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!
Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”
The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”
The giver is not the problem, the receiver is. What is the condition of your heart? Are you a fertile and good soil or are you:
* the wayside
* rocky ground
* overwhelmed with thorns
You should be the good and fertile soil?
It depends on you.
The wayside are those who are carried away by every wave of doctrine, they don't understand it so the enemy snatches the word away from them:
Matthew 13:19
The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts.
These ones never grow, they are the numbers we see in churches today. We heap numbers and boast about it but what we have are empty wayside people who have no personal relationship with God neither are they productive for the kingdom.
This is why there are so many churches but the community and nation is not impacted by them!
The ones who are rocky grounds, are those who do not have deep root of the word, they received it but it doesn't go deep into their heart, so what happens, in a little while it disappears.
Matthew 13:20-21
The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy.
But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word.
We see these ones in every church program here and there, online prayer chains, crusades etc. Always in divers church activities but it doesn't reflect in their lives they keep on coming but no growth.
The third category mentioned by Christ were those among thorns.
He put them in the right category, either the persecution for their faith or the temptations of the riches of this world makes them lose faith and therefore conform to the world.
Matthew 13:22
The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.
This ones are those that say, but this person and that person is prospering but they don't know God. They also say oh why am I going through this if I am God's child.
These are wrong thought paths and they lead many to become unfruitful.
Remember:
John 15:2a
He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit,
The last type of soil is the one we should have, it is the good and fertile soil:
Matthew 13:8
Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!
This is the type of receiver we are, fertile, teachable, always getting better.
We received the seed and it dies in us that it may live, sprouting as a new plant, making us fruitful. Glory to God.
Many have remained in the same state since their youth never improving. They fall under the first three categories. They are loaded with filthy and mundane baggages they have accumulated over the years and this does not allow them become better.
They are neither teachable or correctable they always think they are right or okay, always looking for someone to blame. Some claim to know God but have no personal relationship with Him. They look for one great program or another to jump on, just for temporary relief but within them they have no substance.
This is not what Christ died for. No!
We must be the good soil!
Titus 2:11-13
For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.
And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God,
while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.
Yes, it revealed to all, but if you are not a good soil, you cannot retain it.
Open yourself to God today, let go of all those rubbish you hold tightly to, let Him make you that fertile soil that would bear good fruits and abide.
Oh help us Good Lord.
PRAYER
Loving Father, my heart is Your home, I am that fertile soil that received Your word and bore good fruit. Help me Lord to remain fertile, teachable and holy for You. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
@the watcher.
