ARE YOU HUMBLE?
Matthew 5:5
God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.
The opposite of humility is of course pride!
What does God say about pride "the proud"?
Proverbs 16:5
The Lord detests the proud; they will surely be punished.
Psalms 5:5
Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for you hate all who do evil.
David testified:
2 Samuel 22:28
You rescue the humble, but your eyes watch the proud and humiliate them.
So God is interested in the humble and He turns away from the proud thus they head to destruction!
As dangerous as this is, many still refuse to stop that they may walk in humility.
Listen, some from their youth have learnt to be humble, it could be from their genetics, their growing environment or neighbourhood that includes those that influenced them from their parents, family and communities, no matter what it was, they stayed with that humble attitude.
The same way some may also have become proud and arrogant from their genetics, influence of parents, family, neighbourhood and also communities.
These not withstanding, one gets to the point when they examine themselves to see if they need to readjust their lives.
The same way one has to come to the point when they need to make their decision to return to God. To accept the sacrifice of Christ that they may become sons of God.
John 1:12
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.
So everyone must get to the point where they drop whatever it is that is not of God that they may please God in all that they do.
Think of it, who is more important? The God who will keep you here on earth under His divine protection and provision and will yet bring you into eternity to reign with Christ OR the world and all its fake promises and people who will always disappoint you?
A wise person would always ask themselves: "Why do I do what I do?"
"What am I fighting for?"
Why so proud and arrogant, what is my gain, what will be the end result?"
It is so foolish to always be ready to point fingers at people, blaming them for this or that, a very myopic way of thinking, but many are trapped in this appalling behaviour and lifestyle and they don't seem wise enough to disentangle themselves from it.
Humility means you are not proud. You do not think of yourself alone, you think of others. "If I was the other person, would I be happy to be thought about, treated or spoken to that way".
Humility means you do not place yourself higher than you should be but instead decide to even make yourself lower that others may be blessed or receive help.
Our perfect example is Christ Himself:
Philippians 2:6
Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.
Who do you look up to?
Take time, disconnect yourself from everything and take a little time to think about yourself, check the life you are living, enough of the noise and empty threats.
You could get someone you know who always speaks the truth, you must have at least one person like that, ask them to analyze you and give you a feedback of yourself. It may just be that you are holding on to that the filth that you carry. It is time to offload!
If you are going to be free, you have to let go of all those baggages you have accumulated over the years. You think you are smart but look again you are doing yourself great harm because you refuse to be humble, learn and be a better person.
Come back to God and only Christ can reveal God.
James 4:6
And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say,
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Remember the humble are those who will inherit the earth. There is no place for the proud when Christ reigns in eternity, the fallen one knows this, don't fall for it.
O help us Good Lord.
Habakkuk 2:4
“Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked.
But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.
PRAYER
O Lord, I let go of every pride and hold on to humility. I honour You Lord in all things. Keep me in humility, righteousness and love. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
