PRIDE a no no!
Proverbs 11:2
Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
It is always said that what brought Satan down and made him lose all his glory was that sting called pride.
Proverbs 15:25
The LORD will destroy the house of the proud, but He will establish the boundary of the widow.
James 4:6
But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
Pride could mean you forgetting who is in charge, God, then placing yourself in His place. The Lord may not act immediately but when He does the result is not pleasant. For what you are doing is asking Him to let you go, and as we see with the children of Israel, when you lose His presence, you lose His covering then the enemy can have their way. Selah
Isaiah 42:8
I am the LORD, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images.
When we place ourself in God's place we find it easy to find faults in others, we always feel offended and rarely see ourselves offending others.
Pride will make one always see oneself above others, always the one needed to be apologized to, wanting to be reverenced, always want to intimidate and like to be given, never thinking of giving.
Pride would make your prayer more of a monologue, not patient enough to hear God.
Pride will not allow spouses express full love to themselves always cautious never wanting to be stepped on. Never want to be seen as weak or submissive!
It is important not to confuse Pride with good:
*Leadership
*Discipline
*Correction
*Self Respect
and other virtuous characters.
For when you rebuke young people today, they accuse you of being a judge and thinking you are perfect, so goes the phrase: "no one is perfect". Listen, it is pride to take constructive criticism as an attack!
Also when you create boundary over some areas of your life some may also see this as pride. Wait!, you are not to blame for their misunderstanding or misconception.
Pride emanates from the heart and could very well be confused with a lot of things however, once your intentions are pure and your heart is free of all hate, it would be difficult for pride to thrive. Remember Christ told us to think of how what we do would be received by us if we get the same treatment from others. If we think of this we would delete pride from our character.
1Corinthians 13:4-5
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
When love reigns pride would find it difficult to survive!
Help us Good Lord. Yes, You have helped us.
PRAYER
Loving Father, by Your Holy Spirit grant us grace to see when pride would want to overtake us and by His helping hand keep us in check that we may not derail. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
