NEVER CHOOSE EVIL

2 Kings 11:1-3,12,14,16

When Athaliah, the mother of King Ahaziah of Judah, learned that her son was dead, she began to destroy the rest of the royal family.

But Ahaziah’s sister Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram, took Ahaziah’s infant son, Joash, and stole him away from among the rest of the king’s children, who were about to be killed. She put Joash and his nurse in a bedroom, and they hid him from Athaliah, so the child was not murdered.

Joash remained hidden in the Temple of the lord for six years while Athaliah ruled over the land.

Then Jehoiada brought out Joash, the king’s son, placed the crown on his head, and presented him with a copy of God’s laws. They anointed him and proclaimed him king, and everyone clapped their hands and shouted, “Long live the king!”

When she arrived, she saw the newly crowned king standing in his place of authority by the pillar, as was the custom at times of coronation. The commanders and trumpeters were surrounding him, and people from all over the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets. When Athaliah saw all this, she tore her clothes in despair and shouted, “Treason! Treason!”

So they seized her and led her out to the gate where horses enter the palace grounds, and she was killed there.

As we read through the records in the old testament one thing we must understand and learn is that the evil ones never go unpunished.

So, NEVER CHOOSE evil!

It may look as if you are winning today but the repercussion is never worth it.

This is what many have not come to understand, I am not just talking about young believers but this includes supposed elders and acclaimed spiritual leaders.

God looks at the heart, you can not play the pretend or hypocrite with Him. No!

The Lord knows your intentions, you can paint whatever picture you like to your congregation, followers, mentees, children, colleagues etc. However that doesn't work when it comes to God.

If an entire 400 prophets could be deceived by the lying spirit during the reign of king Ahab, who tells you, you cannot be deceived too!

We must be careful. The crowd doesn't mean that God is there. No!

Jesus said:

Matthew 7:22-23

On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’

But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

Remember what God's law is summarized to be:

Matthew 22:37-40

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’

This is the first and greatest commandment.

A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

So if your heart is not an embodiment of these laws do not think that you are God's own. No!

If your heart is filled with wickedness and selfishness then there is no way love dwells there, so definitely you are not God's own.

Never choose evil.

1 John 4:7-8,12-13

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.

But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.

And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.

Do you get it?

It is the fruit of the Spirit you bear that is the evidence of the Spirit in you and not the gifts(signs).

Jesus clearly said it:

Matthew 7:16-20

You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit.

A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit.

So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire.

Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.

Today money has blinded the eyes of so many that they no longer hear or see God's ways, mammon has taken over. God forbid!

So leave wickedness alone, child of God, destroy it, before it destroys you.

Your nature should be God's nature and God's nature is revealed in us by His Spirit:

Galatians 5:22-23

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Leave evil alone, kick out envy, jealousy, hatred, backbiting, cursing(even in your mind) etc. 

Be free!

Remember, that it is your choice!

O help us Good Lord.

PRAYER

Loving Father fill me afresh with Your love completely that I will have no room for evil. My desire Lord is to please You, may I do so completely. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
