BE CORRECTABLE
1 Kings 22:8-9
The king of Israel replied to Jehoshaphat, “There is one more man who could consult the Lord for us, but I hate him. He never prophesies anything but trouble for me! His name is Micaiah son of Imlah.”Jehoshaphat replied, “That’s not the way a king should talk! Let’s hear what he has to say.”
So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, “Quick! Bring Micaiah son of Imlah.”
Many have refused to keep the right company because they do not want to hear the truth, they prefer to listen to flattery and anything that gives them the illusion that all is well.
Our reading in 1Kings 21 tells us about Ahab, he was to go to war against Syria (which was just an idle thought, but no, it was more than that). He invited Jehoshaphat the king of Judah to join him to war.
1 Kings 22:4
Then he turned to Jehoshaphat and asked, “Will you join me in battle to recover Ramoth-gilead?”Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, “Why, of course! You and I are as one. My troops are your troops, and my horses are your horses.”
However, Jehoshaphat was of the Lord, so he said:
1 Kings 22:5
Then Jehoshaphat added, “But first let’s find out what the Lord says.”
That is the response of someone who is of the Lord. The priority was God, what does God have to say about it.
We do not know what is happening in the spirit, thus as believers we stay tuned to God who is above all in the spirit and in the physical, He takes care of us.
Ahab agreed:
1 Kings 22:6
So the king of Israel summoned the prophets, about 400 of them, and asked them, “Should I go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should I hold back?”They all replied, “Yes, go right ahead! The Lord will give the king victory.”
Listen brethren, the multitude is not always right. Selah!
But, Jehoshaphat was more sensitive in the spirit he knew something was just not right, for he said:
1 Kings 22:7
But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there not also a prophet of the Lord here? We should ask him the same question.”
Do you get it?
Remember why we study this old testament records:
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
It is not enough to say you heard from this prophet, pastor, man of God or the other, the Spirit must also direct you as a child of God!
What was Ahab's reply?
1 Kings 22:8-9
The king of Israel replied to Jehoshaphat, “There is one more man who could consult the Lord for us, but I hate him. He never prophesies anything but trouble for me! His name is Micaiah son of Imlah.”Jehoshaphat replied, “That’s not the way a king should talk! Let’s hear what he has to say.”
So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, “Quick! Bring Micaiah son of Imlah.”
Make yourself CORRECTABLE!
*Proverbs 29:1
Whoever stubbornly refuses to accept criticism will suddenly be destroyed beyond recovery.
That is the problem most people have. They are comfortable with you until you begin to tell them the truth! They do not want to hear the truth, they just want you to tell them something to make them happy, make them relevant and make them feel perfect.
These error, many supposed pastors and spiritual leaders, no matter their title, have fallen for!
Let us look at Ahab, what kind of life was he living? A life of wickedness, worsened by the evil wife he had, who had gone ahead to slay almost all of God's prophets and not just that, killed innocent Naboth to aquire his inherited vineyard for the king's pleasure.
Now tell me, how can any good prophesy come concerning Ahab?
You keep doing all the wrong things again and again, however you say: "Don't consider the wrong things I have done, just look for the good things I do and praise me for it".
It is the dilemma leadership in Africa is facing and the followers are held bound by this foolishness!
Hello, yes it is good to praise people when they put in a good work no matter how small it is. However, you will never get better except you are corrected and you make the necessary amendments.
This is one of the things that has ruptured most part of the education system in the west, children have been given so much liberty and leverage that it has been abused and they have now become self destructive.
This is one big error in the African ruling class. "Oh you cannot correct me or hold me accountable because I am your leader, or because I am older than you are!". What an irony!
Listen, you cannot keep doing the wrong things and not expect to be criticized and corrected.
How did Ahab end?
1 Kings 22:34-38
An Aramean soldier, however, randomly shot an arrow at the Israelite troops and hit the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. “Turn the horses and get me out of here!” Ahab groaned to the driver of his chariot. “I’m badly wounded!”
The battle raged all that day, and the king remained propped up in his chariot facing the Arameans. The blood from his wound ran down to the floor of his chariot, and as evening arrived he died.
Just as the sun was setting, the cry ran through his troops: “We’re done for! Run for your lives!”
So the king died, and his body was taken to Samaria and buried there.
Then his chariot was washed beside the pool of Samaria, and dogs came and licked his blood at the place where the prostitutes bathed, just as the lord had promised.
Do not stay in your wrong doing, get out of it. Make correction and criticism a soap that helps you wash any stain on you. It would not bring you down, but it will take you towards perfection.
Oh help us Good Lord.
PRAYER
Loving Father may I never be hardened or reprobate that I will not take to your caution and corrections. Continue to guide me Lord in all I do that I will please You at all times. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
@the watcher.
