DON'T MISUSE YOUR GRACE
1 Kings 11:1-4,6,11
Now King Solomon loved many foreign women. Besides Pharaoh’s daughter, he married women from Moab, Ammon, Edom, Sidon, and from among the Hittites.
The Lord had clearly instructed the people of Israel, “You must not marry them, because they will turn your hearts to their gods.” Yet Solomon insisted on loving them anyway.
He had 700 wives of royal birth and 300 concubines. And in fact, they did turn his heart away from the Lord.
In Solomon’s old age, they turned his heart to worship other gods instead of being completely faithful to the Lord his God, as his father, David, had been.
In this way, Solomon did what was evil in the Lord’s sight; he refused to follow the Lord completely, as his father, David, had done.
So now the Lord said to him, “Since you have not kept my covenant and have disobeyed my decrees, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your servants.
Listen, never let your blessings become a curse!
That which the Lord has blessed you with should be handled with caution, don't play around with it, never think you have gotten to a stage where you cannot fall.
1 Corinthians 10:12
If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall.
If it was wisdom, Solomon had it, then you wonder why he would fall away from God. Well the same thing happened to Adam, he had so much power, he was God on earth, yet he didn't know that his full submission to God was what was keeping him standing.
Listen, no matter how high or influential you think you are, do not let anyone tamper with your relationship with God. Cut them off immediately, don't give them room or audience.
I am talking of your personal relationship with the Heavenly Father.
Look at Daniel my mentor:
Daniel 6:4-5
Then the other administrators and high officers began searching for some fault in the way Daniel was handling government affairs, but they couldn’t find anything to criticize or condemn. He was faithful, always responsible, and completely trustworthy.
So they concluded, “Our only chance of finding grounds for accusing Daniel will be in connection with the rules of his religion.”
They could find nothing against him, they saw that the only thing they could use against him was to make him stop serving his God!
What have you been compromising on? What have you traded God's love and honour for? Is anything worth it? Of course Nothing!
Jesus said,
Matthew 6:32-33
These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Who can take your mind off God. Who or what is that thing. It is not worth it, No, not at all.
Solomon's downfall was because of disobedience, yoking himself with unbelievers, so much so that he didn't know when to stop. He was looking okay when he was younger but as he grew older and weaker they turned his heart away. Be careful the people you keep around you as you grow older!
What will a man be doing with 700 wives, it is meaningless. If you spend a day with each one it will take you two years to go round each of them, then there was the 300 concubines. What pleasure exactly was he seeking?
Can we learn from this error.
We cannot just keep chasing after the things of this world without watching over our soul. Look at Abraham, in all his wealth, power and splendour, he stuck with his wife even when she couldn't bare him children! No wonder he was the father of faith!
What exactly are we looking for in this world, what matters?
A man could be raised by God to do great things in his generation, then carelessly he could leave serving God to serve mammon!
Matthew 6:24
“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Many have discarded their grace just to feel among. Who really do you think cares about you? The world, that is delusional!
It is only the Heavenly Father that really cares for you, no other.
He said:
Isaiah 49:15
“Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child?
Can she feel no love for the child she has borne?
But even if that were possible,
I would not forget you!
Can we stop toying around with our grace. Can we cease to make other things our God instead of the Almighty God.
We will not fail, fall or falter.
Help us Good Lord.
PRAYER
Loving Father, keep me in Your righteousness, may nothing take my heart away from You. You are the only One who loves me unconditionally. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
