BEGIN AND END WITH HIM

1 Kings 12:26-28

Jeroboam thought to himself, “Unless I am careful, the kingdom will return to the dynasty of David.
When these people go to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices at the Temple of the Lord, they will again give their allegiance to King Rehoboam of Judah. They will kill me and make him their king instead.”
So on the advice of his counselors, the king made two gold calves. He said to the people, “It is too much trouble for you to worship in Jerusalem. Look, Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of Egypt!”

As scripture says, one reason we read from the records of the old testament is so as not to repeat their mistakes.

How can you begin with God and think you can be sustained without Him?

Jeroboam received a prophesy from a prophet concerning kingship in Israel, this privilege was given to him because Solomon went after other gods. How then did Jeroboam think that he could also make the same mistake and escape the repercussion?

As foolish as his reasoning looks, let us ask ourselves as believers, are we not doing the same?

The Lord rejected Israel and then grafted us in as the new Israel, children of adoption:

Romans 8:15
So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”

How do we then depart from this family privilege to seek other gods?

How then do we then make humans(no matter their title),  beings, inanimate things or the world system our God?

How do we leave the leading of His Spirit to be guided by the flesh?

How do we think that we are the one that can keep ourselves from the evils of this world?

How?

Paul was asking the Galatian church:

Galatians 3:3
How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?

Can we avoid this terrible mistake of Jeroboam and put our trust entirely on the One who made us.

No more running after other gods or idols. Let us focus on Christ who paid the price for us. It is through Him that God revealed Himself to us.

Seeking relevance could cause you to lose your relevance with God.

Begin and end with God.

Help us God Lord.

PRAYER
Loving Father I trust in You, help me Lord to remain in You forever. You are my relevance Abba Father,  keep me faithful to You until the very end. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.

Love
