THINK OF THE CONSEQUENCES
2 Samuel 20:1-2,22
There happened to be a troublemaker there named Sheba son of Bicri, a man from the tribe of Benjamin. Sheba blew a ram’s horn and began to chant:
“Down with the dynasty of David!
We have no interest in the son of Jesse.
Come on, you men of Israel, back to your homes!”
So all the men of Israel deserted David and followed Sheba son of Bicri. But the men of Judah stayed with their king and escorted him from the Jordan River to Jerusalem.
Then the woman went to all the people with her wise advice, and they cut off Sheba’s head and threw it out to Joab. So he blew the ram’s horn and called his troops back from the attack. They all returned to their homes, and Joab returned to the king at Jerusalem.
One thing I always avoid as much as possible is repeating the mistakes of others.
Sheba saw how Absalom ended from his rebellion and treason against David who was the anointed king, yet he went ahead to stir a rebellion.
How did he expect it to end?
There are actions we need to meditate on before we implement, however, when we see the outcome for others, why then do we make the same mistakes.
Remember the reason why we study these scriptural records:
1 Corinthians 10:11
These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
Are you learning from scriptures, do you see trouble and avoid it?
Proverbs 22:3
A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.
Always think of the consequences, do not jump into things, do not be guided by emotions or sentiment, let wisdom prevail.
This is why the Lord did not leave us alone. He came to us in the Holy Spirit that we will never be on our own.
Galatians 5:16
So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.
O help us Good Lord.
PRAYER
Loving Father, thank You for Your word, guide me by Your Spirit so that I will always do what is pleasing to You. I will not err Lord. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
