THE BLESSED OF THE LORD
2 Samuel 8:1-2,6,15
After this, David defeated and subdued the Philistines by conquering Gath, their largest town.
David also conquered the land of Moab. He made the people lie down on the ground in a row, and he measured them off in groups with a length of rope. He measured off two groups to be executed for every one group to be spared. The Moabites who were spared became David’s subjects and paid him tribute money.
Then he placed several army garrisons in Damascus, the Aramean capital, and the Arameans became David’s subjects and paid him tribute money. So the Lord made David victorious wherever he went.
So David reigned over all Israel and did what was just and right for all his people.
I have always said that when the Lord decides specifically to bless a person all the opposition against it doesn't matter. For scriptures says:
Ephesians 4:6
one God and Father of all,
who is over all, in all, and living through all.
When He decides to bless a man woe unto anyone who dares to oppose.
Yesterday, we looked at David's heart, his pursuit of God, and we see that he proves himself to really be the man after God's heart. We see the result of this. The Philistines who gave Saul so much troubles were finally defeated by him.
2 Samuel 8:1
After this, David defeated and subdued the Philistines by conquering Gath, their largest town.
Whatever he did the Lord made it prosper:
2 Samuel 8:6b
So the Lord made David victorious wherever he went.
This should be the testimony of every believer. The children of God are made to prosper by him.
What did David do with the precious stones he got from these nations?
2 Samuel 8:11
King David dedicated all these gifts to the Lord, as he did with the silver and gold from the other nations he had defeated—
Do we see the heart that David had, truly his heart was after the Lord.
So we should carry on the same dedication and faithfulness he had, more still as God's Spirit dwells in us as true believers.
The blessings of God is truly ours when we walk with Him with sincere hearts both in this life and the life that will come.
1 John 5:21
Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.
Stay faithful, make God the centre of your heart.
Glory to God forevermore
