STAY IN GOD'S HANDS

2 Samuel 24:1,3,14,24-25

Once again the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and he caused David to harm them by taking a census. “Go and count the people of Israel and Judah,” the Lord told him.
But Joab replied to the king, “May the Lord your God let you live to see a hundred times as many people as there are now! But why, my lord the king, do you want to do this?”
“I’m in a desperate situation!” David replied to Gad. “But let us fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is great. Do not let me fall into human hands.”
But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the lord my God that have cost me nothing.” So David paid him fifty pieces of silver for the threshing floor and the oxen.
David built an altar there to the Lord and sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings. And the Lord answered his prayer for the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped.

We learn from David to stay with the Lord no matter what the situation is. Reading the first verse literally we would say that the Lord instigated David against the people of Israel because of their consistent rebellion.

The children of Israel were known for not being steady, they just kept on walking in unfaithfulness and this is not good.

So David erred in taking a census, but the people were the ones to suffer for his actions.

Firstly, let us also see the role of great advisers around us. Joab tried to caution David against the action. He understood that the implication will be fatal, for it was a sin against God.

Ask yourself, who are those that surround you, are they people who will give good counsel and rebuke you so that you do not take a wrong decision?

Proverbs 27:5
An open rebuke is better than hidden love!

Don't get used to flattery learn to hear the truth and then take appropriate actions.

Proverbs 27:5,9
An open rebuke is better than hidden love!
The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.

Secondly we see that even when David erred he knew that the best option was to remain with the Lord for He said:

2 Samuel 24:14
“I’m in a desperate situation!” David replied to Gad. “But let us fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is great. Do not let me fall into human hands.”

What a heart, do we think the same way, do we understand that the Lord is the One who gives us the best deal, the true Father and friend.

So remain in the Lord's hands no matter what the situation is, there is no better deal anywhere else.

Keep us in Your hands O Lord.

PRAYER
Loving Father my best option is with You, I actually have no other option. Keep me in Your hands Lord and lead me on day after day. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.

Love
