RECONCILIATION

2 Samuel 14:14,33

All of us must die eventually. Our lives are like water spilled out on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. But God does not just sweep life away; instead, he devises ways to bring us back when we have been separated from him.

So Joab told the king what Absalom had said. Then at last David summoned Absalom, who came and bowed low before the king, and the king kissed him.

Have you ever been reconciled to one you have offended? Have you reconciled with anyone who has offended you?

It brings a sort of relief and a burden is taken away from your heart.

Jesus said:

Matthew 5:9

God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.

We are not to dwell on the offences, though we learn from it and take cautions but we should not keep grudges neither should we allow bitterness.

No matter what has been done against you even as evil as what Absalom did, a revenge that brought about the death of David's son, we should yet be able to forgive.

Jesus taught us this:

Matthew 6:12,14-15

and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.

“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.

But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Matthew 18:32-35

Then the king called in the man he had forgiven and said, ‘You evil servant! I forgave you that tremendous debt because you pleaded with me.

Shouldn’t you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?’

Then the angry king sent the man to prison to be tortured until he had paid his entire debt.

“That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart.”

You may be caused so much pain by the one who offended you but the pain remains when you refuse to forgive. However, when we you do truly forgive the pain goes away and you are free. For the burden of the wrong should not rest on you.

Also when you wrong someone, even if it is for revenge, (for you also sin against God in this), and you refuse to seek their forgiveness, you have the burden of the wrong and you have to carry it.

Can we let all these unnecessary suppressing baggages go!

Let us emancipate ourselves!

Listen, you who is so conscious of the wrong someone did to you, have you checked yourself to see how you have wronged others, even that very person or people that you think have wronged you?

Can we set ourselves free from all these garbage we carry?

Is there not enough things to worry about in this world?

Don't we have a divine assignment to complete?

When do we have time for God, when there is no love in our heart?

Are we not doing harm to ourselves?

Let it go, emancipate yourself.

Reconcile, make peace, leave your heart clean!

Hebrews 12:14-15

Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.

Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

Do we know that we carry God's Spirit within us?

Do we know what that means?

O help us Good Lord.

PRAYER

Loving Father You brought reconciliation to us through Christ Jesus, help me to be reconciled to anyone who I yet hold grudges against. Set me free Lord, help me to emancipate myself from any bondage of unforgiveness, malice or bitterness. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.

Love
