BE CAREFUL WHEN OTHERS ARE DOWN

2 Samuel 19:19-21, 23

“My Lord the king, please forgive me,” he pleaded. “Forget the terrible thing your servant did when you left Jerusalem. May the king put it out of his mind.

I know how much I sinned. That is why I have come here today, the very first person in all Israel to greet my Lord the king.”

Then Abishai son of Zeruiah said, “Shimei should die, for he cursed the Lord’s anointed king!”

Then, turning to Shimei, David vowed, “Your life will be spared.”


Be careful how you treat those who are going through tough times. Do not say what you are not sure of, caution yourself not to laugh at their predicament or to  cause more grief.


As believers we carry the heart of God, for His Spirit lives within us, we must therefore show His characteristics.


Galatians 5:22-23,25

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.


Shimei saw the kings troubles, how he was driven from the land that he was king over. He brought out an old grievance and decided to curse and stone David in his time of sorrow.


When you come to think of it, David only showed love to the house of Saul, not minding what Saul did to him.


Shimei like many today would assume that God was dealing with David because of Saul but this was far from the truth.


We now see that David was being returned gloriously and Shimei is now the one begging for forgiveness. He ought to have been killed for what he did was treasonable but David in his humble nature forgave him.


We keep learning from all these records to be the better person we should be. If we yield to God's Spirit we can avoid all these mistakes and be free of unnecessary evil consequences.


You are not sent to bring sorrow to others but instead to show God's love.


Do you know who You are, do you know whose you are, do you know the Spirit you carry?


Luk 9:55-56(kjv) 

But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save [them]. And they went to another village.


May we be guided aright.


Help us Good Lord.


PRAYER

Loving Father may I never be a pain to others, but represent You to them as the opportunity arises. Help me to walk by Your Spirit that I will please You in all things. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.


He calls us blessed.

Remember: God is in control.

As we go through the 11th month of this year of accomplishment, let us be reminded. When it seems to hurt so much, or it all looks quiet and alone, when it appears not to work out.
