WITHOUT GOD

1 Samuel 28:5-6

When Saul saw the vast Philistine army, he became frantic with fear.

He asked the Lord what he should do, but the Lord refused to answer him, either by dreams or by sacred lots or by the prophets.


Someone asked why Saul had to go consult a spiritist, why would he go search after mediums that he had abolished?


The answer is that a desperate man can go to any length.


Saul was a desperate man, he was frustrated, God had left him. There was no way to communicate with God anymore. He had done much evil trying to kill David. Recall that he had the high priest and all his helpers executed.


No one will like to be in the situation Saul was!


Let us do a little study.


What was Saul's undoing? He had disobeyed God just to look good in the sight of the people, now he had the people but God was not with him, he now sees how frustrating and dejecting it is.


His seeking to look good in the eyes of the people made him disobey God and the loss is too great for him to bear.


Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.

Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.


How do we do the same today?


When we honour people instead of God, we repeat the same mistake that Saul made.


The difference now is that it is not God who cuts Himself away from people, it is the other way round. People cut themselves away from God.


John 5:44

No wonder you can’t believe! For you gladly honor each other, but you don’t care about the honor that comes from the one who alone is God.


What we should care about is God's opinion of us, we should care more about God than any human.


Look at the situation Saul was in, all the people he cared more about where there but they were of no help to Him.


Listen brethren, it is all about the Heavenly Father, He should be your priority and not yourself or any other. That way we never lose our way with Him.


Listen to what Jesus said:


John 8:29

And the one who sent me is with me—he has not deserted me. For I always do what pleases him.”


Have you lost your way, have you stayed away from the Heavenly Father? 


It is time to return. Don't delay anymore. Do not be a rebel.


Help us Good Lord.


PRAYER

Loving Father bring me back to You. I honour You more than anything or anyone else. Lord, You are my life, please keep me beside You as You dwell in me by Your Spirit. Let everything I do Lord be pleasing to You. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.


He calls us blessed.

Remember: God is in control.

As we go through the 11th month of this year of accomplishment, let us be reminded. When it seems to hurt so much, or it all looks quiet and alone, when it appears not to work out.
