LET GO OF EVIL

1 Samuel 26:1-2,9-11

Now some men from Ziph came to Saul at Gibeah to tell him, “David is hiding on the hill of Hakilah, which overlooks Jeshimon.”

So Saul took 3,000 of Israel’s elite troops and went to hunt him down in the wilderness of Ziph.

“No!” David said. “Don’t kill him. For who can remain innocent after attacking the Lord’s anointed one?

Surely the Lord will strike Saul down someday, or he will die of old age or in battle.

The Lord forbid that I should kill the one he has anointed! But take his spear and that jug of water beside his head, and then let’s get out of here!”

When we look at the mistakes and great err some people did in scriptures especially in the old testament, we wonder why they act as if they do not have the fear of the Lord.

It makes them look outrightly foolish and ridiculous.

Wait, before we go on, let us remind ourselves of the reason we study these scriptures:

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

* teach us what is True

* make us realize what is wrong with our lives

* corrects us when we are wrong

* teaches us to do what is right

* God uses it to prepare and equip us for every good work.

So, back to it, Saul had already tried to kill David many times, David ran away from the palace. He chased him to the wilderness and David had him in his hands to kill him. Saul was baffled at David not using the opportunity, but spared him. He condemned his actions, told David to come back and even blessed him.

But, yet again, he still came after David.

We look at this and we are annoyed with Saul. What is wrong with him?

David said:

1 Samuel 26:19-21

But now let my Lord the king listen to his servant. If the Lord has stirred you up against me, then let him accept my offering. But if this is simply a human scheme, then may those involved be cursed by the Lord. For they have driven me from my home, so I can no longer live among the lord’s people, and they have said, ‘Go, worship pagan gods.’

Must I die on foreign soil, far from the presence of the Lord? Why has the king of Israel come out to search for a single flea? Why does he hunt me down like a partridge on the mountains?”

Then Saul confessed, “I have sinned. Come back home, my son, and I will no longer try to harm you, for you valued my life today. I have been a fool and very, very wrong.”

It is so meaningless.

Wait, are you any better?

If you hold a grudge against anyone especially those who have not wronged you, you are worse for you have even known Christ.

Have you held someone or people in your heart with hatred. Listen God would not want to have anything to do with you.

Most of the time that person or those people have done nothing wrong against you, YES, just as Saul imagined that David wanted to harm him because he was anointed as king, the same way many supposed believers go around carrying heavy burden in their heart against another because of an assumed offence.

As I told someone yesterday if you were to sit down with that person or people with a third party and talk about it you will find out that all your assumed offences are wrong and you may be the evil one in the matter after all.

Why do we do these things, why do we carry around the wrong aura and wonder why God's presence is not with us and why His Angels are not on assignment around us?

It is time to let go.

As we end this year it is time to put away every rubbish we carry. Look how disgusting it looks when we see it with Saul from our scriptural reading today. Do you wonder how disgusting the heavens will see you with all those gabbage you carry?

Let go of all evil, just let it go?

What has it profited you? Has it added anything to you? NO

If you are not aware, it is taking away from you, blocking your prayers and not allowing you to grow in the knowledge of God, personal development and to fulfill your purpose. Beloved one, let it go!

Instead,

Ephesians 3:17,19

Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Let go of those evil and those evil thoughts against another, instead:

Philippians 4:8

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Be free today!

Help us Good Lord.

PRAYER

Loving Father may my thoughts be on what is, True, Honourable, Right, Pure, Lovely, Admirable, Excellent and Praise worthy. I eject every evil from my heart and let go anyone I hold in hatred. That Thy Spirit will take full control of me O Lord, that I always do what is pleasing to You. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.

Love
