EATEN UP BY EVIL
1 Samuel 22:11,16-19
King Saul immediately sent for Ahimelech and all his family, who served as priests at Nob.
“You will surely die, Ahimelech, along with your entire family!” the king shouted.
And he ordered his bodyguards, “Kill these priests of the Lord, for they are allies and conspirators with David! They knew he was running away from me, but they didn’t tell me!” But Saul’s men refused to kill the Lord’s priests.
Then the king said to Doeg, “You do it.” So Doeg the Edomite turned on them and killed them that day, eighty-five priests in all, still wearing their priestly garments.
Then he went to Nob, the town of the priests, and killed the priests’ families—men and women, children and babies—and all the cattle, donkeys, sheep, and goats.
Listen, do not give room for evil, do not play around with it, for like an infection it spreads and becomes impossible to control.
Ephesians 4:26-27,31-32
And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry,
for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.
Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
Many walk around with the gun powder of hate, bitterness, jealousy and other vices in their hearts, they are a disaster waiting to happen.
Saul gave room to evil by walking in disobedience and he ended up giving himself up to the enemy/evil.
Many might think that God was too hard on him, however, we must understand that:
Luke 12:48b
and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.
Remember that Moses also was not allow to see the promised land.
Listen, as you mature in your walk with God, you become more careful and disciplined. The Loving Father is also just and Lord too, He must be honoured.
Do not take God for granted.
Do not walk in disobedience.
Do not play with evil.
Saul was rejected because he honoured men more than God. Are we doing the same?
Let us learn from Saul's mistake.
We must not be eaten up by evil.
Righteousness and love must prevail.
We do not forget who we honour above all, the Lord God Almighty.
Help us Good Lord.
PRAYER
Lord, let Your righteousness fill me that there is no room for any evil. I am a good branch on Your vine, therefore, I only bear good fruits. Your goodness and mercy is with me all the days of life. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
