DON'T LET IT GET THAT FAR
1 Samuel 20:30-34
Saul boiled with rage at Jonathan. “You stupid son of a whore!” he swore at him. “Do you think I don’t know that you want him to be king in your place, shaming yourself and your mother?
As long as that son of Jesse is alive, you’ll never be king. Now go and get him so I can kill him!”
“But why should he be put to death?” Jonathan asked his father. “What has he done?”
Then Saul hurled his spear at Jonathan, intending to kill him. So at last Jonathan realized that his father was really determined to kill David.
Jonathan left the table in fierce anger and refused to eat on that second day of the festival, for he was crushed by his father’s shameful behavior toward David.
A good question to ask is how suddenly Saul forgot how he became king. How did he forget that he was just an ordinary lad sent on an errand to find his father's lost donkeys, when the Lord sent Samuel to find him.
How quickly he forgot who enthroned him. The same One said he had been rejected, so in his fights, who is he really fighting against?
Listen, when we read all these records in scriptures especially in the Torah, we must understand why we study them:
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
These scriptures should serve as a warning for us not to make the same mistakes.
Have we not forgotten how the Lord saw us in our wretched state and came for us, cleaned us up and made us His own? Have we forgotten how we started and how far God has brought us?
Why then do we create enemies and fight unnecessary wars, especially against those who have done nothing wrong to us?
We think that if the Lord doesn't want us to be there we can get there by fighting our way through, NO!
Galatians 3:3
How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?
This verse is talking of the law, however we can see that our starting point as believers is the Spirit, we are supposed to continue walking therein, we should not later on begin to trust in the flesh.
That was the downfall of Saul, he was just moved by the flesh and that way you cannot be godly.
Galatians 5:19-21
When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,
idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,
envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
These evil nature ought to have died when we received the new birth. We are not supposed to go back to them!
So, STOP, check, DON'T LET IT GET THAT FAR!
Make the correction now, drop all those evil attitudes and begin to walk in the Spirit.
Too much time has been spent on jealousy, hate, malice and wickedness, drop them all and become fruitful in the Spirit.
Help us Good Lord.
PRAYER
Holy Father, cleanse me totally, let me bear fruits of righteousness being pruned by You to bear more fruits. I am Yours forever Lord. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.
He calls us blessed.
Love
@the watcher.
