DON'T FIGHT GOD'S OWN

1 Samuel 19:15,22-24

But Saul sent the troops back to get David. He ordered, “Bring him to me in his bed so I can kill him!”

Finally, Saul himself went to Ramah and arrived at the great well in Secu. “Where are Samuel and David?” he demanded.“They are at Naioth in Ramah,” someone told him.

But on the way to Naioth in Ramah the Spirit of God came even upon Saul, and he, too, began to prophesy all the way to Naioth!

He tore off his clothes and lay naked on the ground all day and all night, prophesying in the presence of Samuel. The people who were watching exclaimed, “What? Is even Saul a prophet?”

Yesterday we looked at the danger of jealousy and how it can grow to become hate and then lead to other extreme behaviours.

We see this play out with Saul, it began with jealousy, till it went to hate and then murder!

However, we see him fall into disgrace, stripping himself naked in public and prophesying.

When you fight God's own you fight God and He will surely arise and defend His own.

Let us look at ourselves as believers, are we making the same mistake? Who do we "carry in your mind", who have you categorised as your enemy?

Take time out, write out what that/those person(s) has/have actually done against you.

1 Samuel 19:4-6

The next morning Jonathan spoke with his father about David, saying many good things about him. “The king must not sin against his servant David,” Jonathan said. “He’s never done anything to harm you. He has always helped you in any way he could.

Have you forgotten about the time he risked his life to kill the Philistine giant and how the Lord brought a great victory to all Israel as a result? You were certainly happy about it then. Why should you murder an innocent man like David? There is no reason for it at all!”

So Saul listened to Jonathan and vowed, “As surely as the Lord lives, David will not be killed.”

What exactly has that/those person(s) you call enemy(s) done against you?

Is it not hearsay or just imaginations in your mind?

You may say, oh I am not planning to kill anyone! Wait listen to Jesus:

Matthew 5:21-24

“You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’

But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.

“So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you,

leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.

Are you a believer? Are you sure you want to spend your eternity with Christ? Then don't play with these verses.

Flush these evils from your heart, remove hatred else God would have nothing to do with you.

Seriously as a counselor, you find that most times those who think that they have been offended are the offenders they just refuse to tell themselves the truth, they have convinced themselves of a lie, they are actually the culprit while the other person may actually be the victim.

Let it go, that you may not end up fighting God's own, which means fighting God.

"Are you God's own?"

Remember this admonition:

Hebrews 12:14-15

Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.

Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

May we never be blinded with hatred that we end up fighting God's own, which is fighting God.

You block your progress and answers to your prayers when you fight unnecessary battles and carry hate in your heart.

Some have adopted these evil character from their upbringing, let it go, you are Christ's own now, repent and live for Him, take up His nature, be free!

All you own anyone is love! For Christ even said:

Matthew 5:44

But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!

Deliver us O Lord.

Yes, You have delivered us Lord in Christ Jesus.

Glory to God.
