WE MUST HEAR FROM GOD

 1 Samuel 3:1,4,10,19,21

Meanwhile, the boy Samuel served the Lord by assisting Eli. Now in those days messages from the Lord were very rare, and visions were quite uncommon.

Suddenly the Lord called out, “Samuel!”“Yes?” Samuel replied. “What is it?”

And the Lord came and called as before, “Samuel! Samuel!”And Samuel replied, “Speak, your servant is listening.”

As Samuel grew up, the Lord was with him, and everything Samuel said proved to be reliable.

The Lord continued to appear at Shiloh and gave messages to Samuel there at the Tabernacle.

As believers we cannot live our day to day lives without hearing from our Heavenly Father. We do not have much information from the different broadcast in the media, we cannot also live by assumption or mere hearsay.

At the time Samuel began to minister in the tabernacle scriptures record that the word of God was scarce.

Where were the prophets?

If we recall from the record in the book of Judges, there was no king in Israel so everyone acted as they seemed right. Even the Levites were not left out, some had even become priests to Idols!

Listen, when sin reigns and the people go after money and other canal desires, they shouldn't expect the presence of God to be with them.

This was the reason why Samuel was born, to come be the voice of God to the people. Hannah was the vessel, and her delay most likely was for her to submit herself as the vessel through whom this prophet would be born.

Remember that when the Lord uses you for His work He surely compensates you in fold.

1 Samuel 2:19-21

Each year his mother made a small coat for him and brought it to him when she came with her husband for the sacrifice.

Before they returned home, Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife and say, “May the Lord give you other children to take the place of this one she gave to the Lord.”

And the Lord blessed Hannah, and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, Samuel grew up in the presence of the Lord.

So Samuel arose as the much needed prophet of his day, I love his testimony:

1 Samuel 3:19

As Samuel grew up, the Lord was with him, and everything Samuel said proved to be reliable.

I love the way kjv puts it:

1Samuel 3:19

And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.

How many supposed prophets today have this same testimony?

They keep on speaking this or that, however nothing really comes to pass. They have now gone so low as to predict football matches, election results, people's phone numbers, names, etc. Is this a joke?

Listen, especially for those of you who still run from one prophet to another:

Prophecy is not a job, it is not a business where you pay someone to prophesy to you!

Listen to the word of God:

Hebrews 1:1-2

Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets.

And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.

God speaks to us today not through prophets but by His Son.

Who is the Son, the Son is also the Word. What is the revelation of the Word? Revealed via scriptures!

Also how is the Son present in/with us today?

John 14:17-19,26-27

He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.

No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.

Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live.

But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

So we have the word of God and His presence in us by His Holy Spirit gives us interpretation of His word and revelation so that we can hear God and walk by His direction.

Do we still have prophets? Yes, they are part of the body of Christ the same way we have teachers, apostles etc. However they are the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit and all these ministry come together to form the body - the church.

Listen, as a believer you must learn how to hear God for yourself, even if a prophet speaks to you, the Lord must confirm it.

Any faithful prayerful believer can prophesy during a gathering, if they yield!

Your relationship is with the Heavenly Father in Christ Jesus and not to any man. One confirmation of a truth is what we saw in Christ's statement in John 14 -   . . .My peace I leave with you . . ."

Again I say, we must learn to hear from the Lord.

Know God by Yourself!

PRAYER

O Lord I want to hear You continually I do not want to walk blindly but by faith, for You are the All Knowing God. Lead me Dear Father, for Your word says, that the steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord. I need You more and more Lord. Glory to Your name Lord forevermore.

He calls us blessed.

Love
